| | Boise, ID 6:30 am Pace: 7:47 Started off better than most mornings have been. Ran the first mile in 8:06 and gradually sped up to 7:43 in miles 4 and 5. Randy said he wasn't feeling well so we cut it short and took the 5-mile loop. I was feeling good, so I grabed the iPod and took off for 3 more miles keeping the pace on them down in the 7:30's. The diet took a hit this weekend, but I'm back on track now. Hoping to get down and stay in the 140s by the end of the week.

| | Boise, ID 6:00 am Pace: 7:48 Didn't feel as strong as yesteday, but still a good run. I got up a little earlier to go farther today. So it was dark the whole time. The time change last weekend was rough. Mornings were getting better, but then it feels like they moved the bar.

Boise, ID 6:15am 5.0 miles
Pace: 7:50 Wasn't really feeling it this morning. Felt tired from the start, but picked up the pace each mile and ended up with a decent time. More running planned for later today. 1:45 pm 5.11 miles
Pace: 7:38 I needed to take the car in for a recall repair today. I thought it would be fun to drop it off and run back home. It wasn't. It was raining when I started running. By the time I finished running the temperature had dropped 10 degrees and the rain had turned to snow. I was really cold. I kept up a pretty good pace mainly because I wanted to get to my warm home quickly.

| | Boise, ID 7:00 am Pace: 7:49 This morning was a mess. My phone is messed up, so I didn't get an alarm this morning. So, I got out late. Then my iPod battery died on me about a mile into the run. But is was a nice, crisp morning and I got more daylight because I went out later. I didn't appreciate it at the time, but I did run down Shamrock street today. I'm saying that it was in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

| | Boise, ID 9:00 am Pace: 7:49 A good long run today. This is the first time I've ever held a 20 miles under an 8 minute pace on a training run (or any run for that matter). Everything went well except that I had some gut issues around miles 11-14. I took gel every 5 miles because that's my plan for the marathon. Not sure if it was the gel, the caffeine in the gel or something else. Next time I'll try gels without caffeine and see if it happens again. Either way, I think taking the gels helped because I didn't feel the bonk at the end. I was tired for sure, but I was able to keep a 7:40somethingish pace even through the last few miles. This run was a real confidence booster.
