Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Well, I found a big drawback for daylight savings: It now feels like it's ten degrees colder.  5 miles tempo, which felt sooo hard, but good to have done now. I ran faster than my PR for this course, which I ran last week.  26:02.  Splits:4:45.6, 5:27.7, 5:11.9, 5:00.9, 5:35.8. 1st mile downhill, second uphill, third uphill, then downhill, fourth, downhill, and 5th uphill.  I wanted to break 26 minutes, but I didn't think it was realistic, but it ended up being realistic at the end.  My achielles hurt at the end when I stopped, but got better on the cool down.  Afterward I did my first ab/arm workout since 5 days before state.  It hurt more than ever!

I didn't have much motivation to do the next four miles for today until 6 when my dad came home.  He biked by me for it.  I went way too fast for it, and averaged around 6:30s.

1 mile warm up, then 5k tempo on the track to make it easier after yesterday's hard tempo run.  It went okay, except it was cold, a little windy, and the football team decided to use lane 1 on the home stretch for some of thier stuff.  Splits for 1600meters: 4:48(much too fast), 5:00, 5:00, 35 for last 200m.  Then, Alex Lyons and me ran golf course, which is over 4, but I'm not sure by how much, so I'll just put it in as 4.5

2 easy miles when it was dark.

6.5 atleast.  1.25 warm up with Stockton (he was doing 4X1600 meters), then the run was supposed to be: 3X1200m at 3:27, with 3 min. recovery, and then 2X800m at 2:18, with same recovery, and then 4X400m at atleast 1:03s.  Well this workout went over like a pregnant high-jumper.  I did 2X1200m at 3:26(first lap was way too fast.  Either 1:03 or 1:04, so I slowed down on the next laps on purpose), and 3:29.  Then 3X800m with 2:18,(I was hurting badly), 2:21(last 200m I fell apart and ran a 37), 2:21(same as before.) and then instead of 400m I did 200m.  I bearly was even able to run the same pace as the 400m's were supposed to be.  My stomache hurt and my legs were tired.  No more bacon sandwiches before hard workouts.  1.25 cool down.

4 miles at a good pace, it felt really fast, but ended up being 6 min. pace, maybe a tad slower.  A little over a half mile cool down afterward.

6.33 miles in 45 minutes with Stockton.  It felt harder than it should've.  We started pretty slow with a tailwind, and ended up running sub-7 minute miles into the wind, which wasn't easy like we were supposed to be running.

Around 12 miles today.  I ran to the base of Beast (hill), and then started my workout.  5X3 hill loop.  This loop I would push the uphills.  The loop went up Beast, down Beauty, and then to the Lion's trail, and up the hill that ends at the start of golf course hill, and then back down that hill, and then up Beauty and down Beast. I guess it was around a mile loop, it took me around 8 minutes to do one. I tried to pace myself up Beast.  My legs were burning the whole time.  After the workout, I did sunnyside extended and back home to make it 60 miles this week. The whole run my legs were tired from the week.
