Running Accomplishments:

Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

5 miles tempo in the very wet and cold outdoors. The run went well today, and I pushed it the whole way.  26:29 I think, so that was great.  Then 2 miles cool down that were also wet.

3 miles at 7:30.  These were a lot easier than the earlier miles, mostly because the wind had died down, and rain wasn't pelting me. 7:00 pace.

Long run.  It was supposed to be easy, but ended up being 6:12 average pace. I was sore from yesterday.

5 miles tempo, then 2 miles cool down.  My calves were burning the whole time, I expected to run 6 min. miles, but was a 5:26 AP instead for the tempo.  I'll try to run 3 miles later. My body is very sore.

3 miles later to mutual and back after.

4.25- We warmed up with some of the guys I was going to pace PR in the mile.  I was going to pace (with Kyler) Stockton, Wes, and Ethan to break 5 minutes.  It was a little cold, and windy, but they wanted to do it anyway.  We started, and everyone shot out fast.  I got behind Kyler at the 200m mark.  32! too fast.  After that I passed Kyler a little before the 400m mark, and that was 1:07 for me, 1:08 for Kyler, 1:09 for Stockton.  600m we were 1:45, again, too fast, but getting back on pace.  We hit the 800m at 2:22 or something like that.  Ethan and Wes had both fallen off, but I was going to pace Stockton to break 5.  We kept pushing, and I was around 3:38 on the third lap, and he got around me, into the wind, to pass me.  He ended up finishing in 4:52, which was a 17 second PR.  Ethan was 5:12 (2 second PR), and Wes was 5:35.  I then paced Joseph to go 5:40 in the mile, but I sucked at pacing. We went 1:15, 2:40 or something, and then during his 3rd lap, he thought he was 30 or 40 seconds slow, and just said he wanted to stop.  I thought it was because he was hurting, but he thought he was way off.  We came around 4:10s for his 3rd lap, and for his last lap 5:54 to 5:55(A 2 second PR).  Cool down afterward.

3.2 with Alex. It was easy, and it felt EASY.  We had to extend it around the cemetary because we saw a funural was going on, so we decided it would be awkward to run by shirtless.

Ran a warm up with Thomas, a little over 2 miles, then got ready for the race.  I was supposed to at the slowest have it in 5:05s for the workout Coach Write had for me.  I took off a bit too fast, and then slowed down.  There was a biker in front of me keeping cars from hitting me.  I ran the first mile in 5:02 (slight uphill), the second in 5:02.4 (slight downhill, but mostly flat.) and then the final 1.1 I knew I needed to speed up to break 15:30. Right before the 2 mile mark I sped up a little, but stepped in a pot-hole and almost fell down.  I sped up and sprinted in the last mile, but according to the official time was 15:31, while my iPod(which is about a second a mile slow always) had me at 15:28.  Oh darn, but it was a great race, and great to talk to so many people I haven't seen in a while.  Cooled down with Thomas and Mark.

8 miles easy up the canyon.  I felt good, better than earlier this week.  A really good week of miles for me this week.
