| | We did a mile and half warm up, then did 10X400m at 1:04( or that is what I was supposed to hit.) with a minute break in between. The rain and wind was terrible, and I feel like I really should have had more 1:04s. I hit a 1:02 for the first lap, but my next lap was the last one that was on target. The rest were slow, anywhere from 1:06 to 1:10. I was dissappointed in myself for not getting these where I needed them. I need to work on my work ethic during speed workouts, because that's where I get lazy. 2 mile cool down with Kyler afterward. After that my legs still felt super fresh from the taper, so I put in 2 more miles. My legs still felt super fresh after that, but coach advised me to not put in extra miles if I'm not hitting the splits I need to. | Add Comment |
| | Ran up Smithfield Canyon for our long run today. Kyler said it was 11.5 up to the green spicket at the campgrounds and back, and that seemed about right. After I did around an extra half mile to bring me up to a whole number of twelve. I felt good. | Add Comment |

4 pre-meet. I felt great. It's a dual meet tomorrow, so I didn't really run that slow. I'm planning on getting a few speed workouts in during some events, maybe.
2 extra miles at about 6. My legs felt great, and I didn't want to taper too much for a dual meet. | Add Comment |

Mountain Crest Dual Meet (2 Miles) 00:10:12, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | Ran 1600 and 3200 at a dual meet. I didn't push it too much. 4:41 for the mile and that felt good. Goal was 4:40, but I slowed the last two laps. I ran the 3200m, and my goal was my tempo for my VDot (I think) which is 5:09. I was on pace the whole way for 5:08 pace, and I just pushed my last lap a bit more. It felt great! I love pushing it, but not as fast as a race pace. That pace was perfect. I did some good cool downs/warm ups in between these. I also did an 800m in a medly leg just for fun. We won. . . . . because we were the only team. I ran a 2:19, and it didn't hurt. It was a fun meet though. | Add Comment |

Grizzley Invitational (2 Miles) 00:09:23, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | |
I warmed up, and the weather was terrible. It wasn't too cold, but with the wind and occasional rain, I didn't want to run. I warmed up (not a very warm one) and went to the start line. I had the fastest time this season, becuase Jerrell hadn't ran yet (He's had an achielles injury and has only been able to run a few easy runs a week).
The gun went off, and Jerrell and Rory had a pretty big lead, about 20 meters on me. After a little while Rory fell off Jerrell who was going way strong. I slowly reeled him in. I'm not sure about our splits, but I know I was around 4:40 (maybe under?) for the mile. Jerrell still had 20 meters or so on me, but I was catching him. We ran a bunch of 73s (I wanted to be running 70s) for the next laps, and I caught up to him on the last lap at the 300m to go mark. I was sprinting, because I had to run a 62 or 63 to get sub-9:20, but I couldn't pass him, and the wind had suddenly gotten really bad. With 200m to go I should've passed him and gone for the faster time, but I held back a bit. I passed him with about 50 meters left, and sprinted in for a 9:23. I'm happy with this race, but I am dissapointed on the time. I really felt like I should have been running a sub 9:20, because two weeks ago at Cache-Box I ran a 9:24 and it felt easy. I blame it on the wind, the bad sleep these last few nights, and my bad diet. I was really hungry in between the 1600 and the 3200, but I didn't want to take the chance of over eating.
After I cooled down with Kyler, and rested up a bit. The wind got worse, and it started raining more consistently. I didn't have any motivation. I just tried to push it, but didn't feel like it was all out. I really think I could have ran a lot faster for this race. I took 5th and ran a 4:30ish. Not a good race at all. Jordon Cross won it, with Elijah Armstrong in second, then Rory, Mike, and then me. After I cooled down with Jordon Cross and Mike Buckly of Ogden, who both had spectacular races. Another thing I think that effected my race is the dual meet two days ago. I should not have gone a 4:40 for that mile. My legs were sore before the race started today, but I still thought I could do well and possibly PR in the 1600. Maybe next time
PM- 3 miles at a pace that felt like I was pushing it. The weather was better. Less wind, warmer, but more rain. Goals for next week: sub-9:20 3200m, and sub-4:22 (PR) 1600. | Add Comment |
