High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Warm up, then 3X1200m at 3200m pace(3 min. recovery), then 1000m at same pace, then we were supposed to do 3X300m at 800m pace(or sprinting).  I did my first one.  2 sec. slow, but it felt good.  Second one was hard, but only a second slow. Then things went down hill.  I pushed to a 14 sec. slow 3rd one.  It hurt soo much.  I had to stop 100m into it to keep from puking. Not sure the problem.  After I did the 1000m about 5 or 6 seconds slow.  I just didn't have it. Then I couldn't stay standing.  It was hard to breathe.  I skipped the first two 300s, and tried the last one with Kyler, Tyson, and Alex. I started out in the back, passed Kyler at 170m, then almost passed Tyson. Tyson was 42.5, but he started in front of me, so I was probably 42.9 or 43.0.  Then we cooled down.

Came home pretty ticked.  Then I went and got the mail.  ACT score came back--I did ok, but didn't quite reach the goal I had.  Dang it!  (I can always retake it.)  So I went on a 3.1 mile easy run.  After I was just so ticked, so I ran 2X200m all out on the road.  These went surprisingly good.  27.1 and 27.9.  I did a standing start too, so I'm happy about those.

We did Tree of Life extended.  Then some strides, then I did a little bit more to get it to 3.  Pre-meet, but I hear tomorrow's weather isn't going to be great.  I still want to go sub-4:20 though.

Well, the meet got canceled due to the weather.  At it was a bit cold(45 degrees), but almost perfect weather.  Wait what?  So tomorrow it's supposed to be really snowy and windy, so maybe it was a good idea.  Coach, himself surprised, had us decide our workout.  He gave us some options, but we ultimately chose the 5-minute miracles.(2 minutes easy, 2 minutes tempo, 1 minute all out).  We did 5.  It hurt really bad, especially on the trail, but it was a good workout.  I would run the hard 3 minutes, then run backwards for a bit of the easy, and would stagger it so I would always try to pass Tyson and Kyler.  Cool down afterward.

     3 miles later.

So, since the weather outside was supposed to be soo bad, we just ran inside.  No one thought about checking outside though.  We warmed up, then did leapfrog up the stairs, around the gym and down the stairs, but you had to hit every stair on the way down.  We went 12 minutes, then took a break, then 12 again, then took a break, and went outside to cool off.  When we were out there it was sunny and warm. We did 4 minutes after that break, then cooled down.

6 miles later.  1st mile it started to hail.  Next mile it started to hail hard, so I turned around early.  The hail stones were as big as my pinkie nail, and they hurt!  After 4 I stopped and waited for the hail to stop, then went 2 more to finish.

11 miles. Ran with Ethan and Jordan for the first 4, then went the rest on my own up the canyon.  I sped up a little too much on the way down.  Legs felt good, but I probably pushed it too much for an easy day.  After I didn't have a ride home from school, so I walked, hoping one of my neighbors would see me and give me a ride home.  That didn't happen, so I ended up walking almost the full 2 miles home.  Then I went on a 4 mile hike. Legs were pretty beat afterward.

5 miles tempo, then 2 miles cool down.  Tempo wasn't as fast as last week, but that should be expected with all the hikes and walks yesterday.  I might run some more later today.

Went on another hike.  I heard it was 4 miles, but it went a lot quicker than yesterday, so maybe it was only two.  All this walking/hiking is getting me pretty sore.  After I went 3 miles easy.
