Pre-high school: I ran a lot of local 5ks and a few half marathons.  I didn't do a ton of training, but I just had fun, and I got more serious about it as high school got closer.

High school: I enjoyed running a lot, especially cross country.  I originally did track to keep my in shape for cross country.  I ran at Footlocker Nationals, the Adidas Dream mile, Brooks PR Invitational, world xc junior championships, and a few local 5ks.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Make sure I have fun, not get burned out, and get faster.

School records in the 5km and 10km.

Personal:

Served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from July 2015-July 2017.  I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.

I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

12 easy miles.  I felt good for the first ten, last two kinda hurt.  I was supposed to go easy, but averaged 6:10s I think(The time when I left was 4:33, and I got back at 4:50 about.)  I tried to apply to run some international races(junior) last night, but the deadline was Dec. 14th, the day of nationals.  I didn't have anything with me that had internet the whole trip.  I was told that it was Dec. 17th, but I didn't know how to apply until Thursday(or that you could), so I'm kinda bummed.

Are you trying to apply through USATF? I'd still try to do it if there is any hope at all, they might grant you an exemption and still consider you. You were just 7th at Foot Locker for crying out loud! That seems like it should matter more than hitting a specific deadline.

Yeah Jake, it's the USATF. I'll still try and apply. They gave some extra application things to the top-5 at FootLocker, but Joe Hardy didn't want to go, and neither did Elijah Armstrong(wants to focus on track), but the people said they couldn't give it to the next guy :(. My mom tried to call the guy again today, but he never answered. If you have any recommendations on what to do, they'd be much appreciated.

I wish I had some advice, but I have no idea. I just hope that you don't get denied an opportunity because of paperwork. You've worked hard and deserve a chance if those other guys decided not to run.

What did you do to get to the level that you are at? Anything specific? I want to be as fast as you one day

Thanks Jake, and Joe, two of the most important things I can think of right now is you need to be consistent with your training and make sure you get good sleep.

Spoken like a true veteran, Conner! :-)
