2019 Running Schedule
Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.
April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.
May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.
October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s. Long-Term Running Goals: Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential. Personal: I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design and improve neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.
Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

| In Mallorca, staying at the Pedruxella Olive Farm's Son Duri. Not much time to run, so down from Son Duri to MA10, back up to the Pedruxella Gran gate, then back down. Then, 1 mile of goat herding (see strava for story). A bit under 8:00 average with nearly 700' of climb in 4.2. Steep.

| Long run on the extraordinary MA10 in Mallorca. Son Duri to MA10 to Lluc and back. So many cyclists out enjoying the spectacular road, and I can see why. 2400' gain, so a lot of hilliness. Also, REAAAAAAALLY humid, which was painful, even though it was only 86 F during the run. Ran out of 2 bottles of water with a few miles to go. 8:37 pace through 17.5, then shut off watch to allow myself to be slothful on the final mile+, which is annoyingly uphill.

| Very much the wrong shoes for this run. Haha. Skechers don't do well on sharp rocks and rugged trail. Uphills were lazy, downhills were a crawl. Hahaha. 2050' gain, 9:45 AP.

| From Port de Soller on the Northwestern portion of the island. Absurdly beautiful running. 2 miles on road uphill, 6 miles on trail, 2 miles on road downhill. Splits were all over the place: 7:12, 8:27, 14:28 (837' net uphill... oof...), 9:06, 8:03, 10:06, 9:01, 6:13, 6:45. Total climb was 1713', which is quite a lot for 10 miles. Once again, Skechers aren't a great choice on super rocky, rugged trails (not your typical, smooth Utah trails).
