2019 Running Schedule

Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.

October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential.

Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

To Wisconsin and back.  6:55 pace, quite icy and pretty rolling (800' of gain).  The hill up Myrtle out of Stillwater was pretty sucky.  Temps weren't that cold (about 20), but I sweat a fair amount in the first 12 miles or so and then it got colder and a big headwind picked in the last bit, and I absolutely froze.  I'm going to make sure to wear an extra layer on the bottom next time...

That is surely a nice pace for that distance. The only place that sounds worse than running in Utah in winter is running in the northern midwest. Kudos to ye.

Thanks. I was thinking about a pickup in the second half, but the headwind and iciness made me decide against it. Even under these conditions, it felt easy, though, so that was good.

I would say running in Minnesota, despite the cold, is better than running in Utah in the winter because they (Minneapolis at least) do a far better job plowing the roads than Utah does. Also, Minnesotans are way more likely to shovel their walks than Utahans are.

Agreed. It snowed yesterday, but the roads and sidewalks were pretty clear today. Of course, the path I normally becomes a snowmobile trail in winter, so I was just on the shoulder most of the way. The main benifit, IMO, is the lack of inversions. The cold can be rough, but it won't get extreme for a couple more days.
