Well, I tried something new today.  I went outside to run!  Amazing.  My Garmin had missed me so much I took it out for a run on what else but the Planet Walk.  It felt so good to be outside in the cool air.  I had to take advantage before another storm this weekend.  It was very quiet and dark this morning (I had forgotten about that I guess).  I ran 3 miles total which took me close to the end of the planet walk from my house and back.    I had a hard time keeping the pace slow as once I get outside my muscle memory kicks in.  The slowest I could go was 7:50 ave.  The only sign of loss of fitness was a 10 bpm increase in heart rate.  No leg issues to speak of.  Excellent sign....

*** As per a wise man's suggestion, my plan to get back into shape is the following (assuming no injury setbacks) :  Run 3 miles a day this week, 4 miles a day next week, 5 the next, and so on adding a mile a day every week until I am back to 70 mpw.  I will also include a few "miles" on the elliptical (where 15 mins equal 1 mile).  No slacking on the stretching and massage work.

When I was coming back from injury I would jump on the bike or elliptical first to make my leg tired. Then I would go for a run. This helped me not over do it. plus I got that feeling I was running harder and longer, which we crave so much.

Good tip - Thanks

Good to see you have gotten outside and your leg isn't mad at you for it. Stay conservative!

Yea Cody! Back on the road, where you belong. Hey, be careful, though. We need you all healthy so you can help crush all competition at Relay del Sol!

Nice job Cody. Your whole approach and taking things easy will get you back outside fast. Just remember to keep stretching.

Sounds like a good plan.

Hey, when you see Dan next make sure to tell him hi for me, and let him know that Allison and I are thinking about him.

Will do James -

Congrats on finishing your student teaching! Now get a job!

Nice to know you are back out on the road where all the truly crazy husbands belong!

I'm pretty sure I saw you running this morning when I was driving to work. I thought about honking, but, you know honking car and running in the dark don't really mix. Nice job today!

From James on Thu, Dec 06, 2007 at 20:43:12

No it is illegal immigrants driving into trees and running in the dark that don't mix for Cody.
