Very hilly easy run.

7:42 am, 17°F, 74% humidity, wind 5 S.

This run was mostly on SR 248 starting in Wasatch County and crossing into Summit County. The upside of this is that I was above the smog and the muck that is blanketing the Wasatch Front. The other upside of this is that this section of road has monster hills. From the start to 0.5 was a very steep downhill. This was from my sister's house, out of the neighborhood, to SR 248. Then it was uphill until about 2.25, and then down hill until 3.5 where I turned around, and then the whole thing in reverse. That last half mile from the main road up to my sister's house was a killer.

I ran from my sister's house to the place where the rail trail crosses SR 248 so that I could check out the condition of the trail. It is covered in snow, of course. I might give the rail trail a try in my yaktrax later this week.

AP: 9:12. Splits: 9:32, 9:46, 8:43, 8:58, 9:13, 8:46, 9:25.

I love the rail trail!! Much better this time of year than in the summer! If you are near Jeremy Ranch Road it one of my all time favorite places to run, though it it is likely to be tough to run this time of year, icy or muddy.

Have fun with your family.

I'm kind of southeast of Jeremy Ranch, near Jordanelle Reservoir.

I'm glad you were above all the muck. I think I might snow shoe this weekend up by Snow Basin ski resort. It is usually much better air up there.

Great job on the hills! It is good you have a little of practice on hills already. It is a bit of a bummer that you had to start with a steep downhill which means you end with a steep uphill.

Hopefully this hills aren't icy. Rail trail sounds exciting, yaktrax sounds like serious equipment.

Great splits for such a hilly workout! Heck those are great splits for flat terrain!

How awesome that you're running around the Utah hills on vacation. I've been to Jordanelle a few times, and it's beautiful there. I'm usually there in the summer. I'm sure it's pretty with snow too.

Have fun with your trail runs in the wilderness, and I'm glad you're above the smog. That stuff is nasty!
