I ran really slowly this morning. I guess I'm still tired from yesterday's hard run. I'm glad it's almost the weekend. I need some rest.

I think I have to accompany my son on a drive up to some town north of Denver this evening so that he can get in some driving hours in pursuit of his drivers license and so that he can see a girl that he likes. I don't really want to go. I'd rather stay home and do nothing, but I guess I should go. We really need to get some driving hours in so that this kid can get his license. It will simplify my life when he gets his license.

Wow. I can't fathom how I will react when my son asks me to drive him somewhere to see a girl. And based on how I feel this morning, sitting in a car for more than even 5 minutes does not sound like fun.

Well jun, this son of mine is the one who won't go to church anymore and claims not to believe in God. However, the girl he wants to see is LDS and this is the first time he has been interested in a Mormon girl since he stopped going to church, so that's why I'm willing to drive a long way with him to see her.

This is when being a knitter really comes in handy - never a wasted minute. Maybe you can figure out a way to bring quilting, or a book. Good run today.

Most of the time will be spent driving and I can't read in the car or I will get sick. But I just got a new Runners World today that I can read if I have to wait while he visits with her. And I requested a book from the library yesterday that I might be able to pick up today.

I'm having to force my daughter to drive... She dosen't want to. Have fun though. I find that driving with my kids is usually when they really open up and talk about things with me.

Lori, I think your daughter and my son are closed to the same age. For the longest time he didn't want to drive. That's how he got to be nearly 18 years old without a drivers license. But now he wants the license so he's motivated to drive. We've got to get 50 hours in before he can even take the test, thus the utility of a long drive to see a girl.

Nice run, glad you got the miles in and that it was good run. Good luck with the drive :)

yes then he can be your chauffeur (did i spell that right?)

Any who--do you do your shred before or after your runs?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Fri, Oct 02, 2009 at 16:02:04 from 198.241.174.15

Yes, you spelled it correctly.

I do the shred after my run because it works out better with my schedule that way. Actually, right after my run I drive my son to school, then I do the shred when I get back home, so I do have a little "rest" in between.

I don't know whether that's the best order to do things from a fitness perspective. It's just what works out for me.

I cannot fathom a teen who doesn't want to drive. Most of the kids I teach have a license the day they turn 16.

Maybe this girl will get him back to church. Have a fun ride!
