Extraordinarily Easy Eight. Average pace: 9:56.

46° F, 26% humidity, wind 12 SSE.

I was surprised by how warm it was this morning. The forecast was for a much colder morning and I had laid out clothes in accordance with the forecast. My mind wasn't nimble enough to change clothing plans at the last minute, so I was slightly over dressed.

I just never got going very fast today for some reason. Maybe yesterday's hill repeats took more out of me than I realized.

I skipped the Shred today in a feeble attempt to rest up for a dinky trail race that I'm running on Saturday. I'll skip the Shred on Friday too.

Good luck on the trail race! How many miles is it?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 09:13:38 from 24.8.167.243

It's 10 miles.

10 trail miles isn't dinky!! You'll do great with your hill training you've put in. Just picture that stop sign at the top of the trail :-)

Trail races are fun... you will have a great time and I'm sure you will do really well with all your taining. I don't think I will ever thing 10 miles is dinky :)

Ooh! Have fun with your dinky trail race! Sounds fun, Carolyn. You are such a beast on the hills, you will do great.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 10:23:43 from 24.8.167.243

It's not that 10 miles is dinky. The race is dinky in that it's just a little local race that's not USATF certified.

Incidentally, QP, it's not a stop sign. It's a sign indicating that you're approaching a cross street.

You know, I am no longer surprised about how early you post your workouts. I am kind of surprised how many people reply to you so early in the morning though.

I am only speaking for myself, but yours is the first blog I check in the morning because I know it will have something to read. I wonder if others feel the same way.

Anyway, you are going to do awesome in your race on Saturday. It will be a great experience for you. The feel of a trail race is so different from a road race, I think you'll absolutely love it.

Way to shake up the routine with an "extraordinarily easy eight". Those mere "easy eights" can get kind of dull sometimes.

From Snoqualmie on Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 12:11:05 from 24.18.192.33

If you take it easy the next couple of days, you should feel great by the weekend. Enjoy!

Nice workout, sometimes we need those extra easy days to keep our legs in tune! You'll do great on the race, I LOVE little local races..more prizes and probably an AG win coming your way! :)

I love that you're always posting early too. It's fun to see your blog up when I get online. You're so motivated and inspirational.

And you have great comments.

I can't wait for my chicken soup on Friday!

From Bonnie on Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 18:37:30 from 128.196.228.134

Chicken soup? Who is getting chicken soup??

Ahhhh, the joys of easy eights!

From Mark on Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 22:57:01 from 173.168.88.68

I skipped an Inflict workout last week because I had the 10K coming up on Saturday, I think it helped. Trail race sounds exciting, I have never done one of those before. Best of luck!

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Oct 08, 2009 at 09:53:56 from 24.199.205.252

I've got a great recipe for tortilla chicken soup. Hopefully it gives me the sodium I need to ward off the cramps for my long Saturday run.
