Easyish run.

5:16 am, 23° F, 39% humidity, wind 7 SE.

I ran the Broadway loop counter-clockwise, which meant downhill for the first half and uphill for the second half. I was going to go beyond Broadway to the road that my office is on to make the route a little longer, but I missed the turn, so I added some extra in the neighborhood at the end instead to bump it up to 10 miles (my standard Broadway loop is about 8.5 miles). I managed to run the second half faster than the first despite that the second half was uphill. It's quite common for me to run negative splits, but on most of my routes, the first half is uphill and the second half is downhill, so it's nice to see that I can run a negative split even when the second half is uphill instead of downhill.

AP: 9:11. Splits: 10:07, 9:30, 9:34, 9:16, 9:36, 9:03, 8:49, 8:34, 8:50, 8:34.

I wish I could take a nap now, but I've got to take a shower and go to work. Maybe I can sleep in a little the rest of the week since my kids don't have school.

hey, we ran together today, just in different states!!!

I am going to take a nap today, no matter what!!!!! Do sleep in the rest of the week, you have earned it.

Did the three of us run together? I was out the door by 5:30. It was cold, but great this morning, wasn't it? Great miles today Carolyn. Today was definitely 'one of those days' where things come together.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 10:40:30 from 24.8.167.243

Yes, we three were all running at the same time. Colorado and Utah are in the same time zone, so that increases the chances that we all run "together." We were all in the sub-6 club this morning!

Hey, I was with you, I just wasn't running. I woke up around 5:20 AM to let the dogs out. It looked dark and cold outside! You guys are all insane!

From Kelli on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 12:57:37 from 71.219.71.229

We should start a club!

It was not to bad today, only my face froze and my right pinky and left middle finger. Wait until it gets below 20 with wind, then I will go soft and hit the treadmill again!

Double gloves and face cover thingie.

From jun on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 13:07:16 from 66.239.250.209

I'm with you on the double-gloves thing. I didn't have a face cover, but overall I didn't really feel like I needed one this morning. I would have died without two sets of gloves though.

From Kelli on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 13:10:11 from 71.219.71.229

How do you fit on two sets of gloves? What kind should I go buy??

My face only froze on the hill sprints, it was my "speed" that was freezing my face off. Before and after that it was not too bad.

I have a pair of running gloves which are quite thin and then I have some fleece gloves which just happen to be too big for me, so it just happens to work out for me.

I think an optimal option would be thin running gloves under some fleece mittens.

From Kelli on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 13:35:04 from 71.219.71.229

I just have fleece gloves. Guess I need to go to the running store AGAIN...

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Nov 24, 2009 at 13:39:06 from 198.241.174.15

Running store, running schmore. I just use a pair of knit gloves that I got for $1 at Target for the underneath pair of gloves.

Great times on your hills, especially since they were the 2nd half of your "easyish" run.

That cold weather stuff...my hat is off to you!

I hope you get to sleep in the rest of the week.
