Easy run. Average pace: 9:37.

6:12 am, 43° F, 41% humidity, WINDY 13-19 mph SSE.

My husband has the day off for Veteran's Day, but the kids and I don't. So he did the driving to seminary this morning, which enabled me to sleep in a bit and run later.

I've got a taper week on account of my race this Saturday, so no hill sprints this morning and no shred all week. I've got a short(ish) tempo run tomorrow and strides on Thursday. Other than that, it's all short and easy. The only day I have to drive to seminary is tomorrow, so I'll have to get up early tomorrow, but I should be able to get a little more sleep than usual the rest of the week.

Splits this morning were 10:30, 10:06, 9:43, 9:21, 9:15, 8:58, with 8:55 for the last bit. I like how each mile was faster than the one before, even though I started quit slowly.

You've got wind, I've got wind. You're racing Saturday, I'm racing Saturday. But I think I'll do some short hill sprints tomorrow, then mini taper. Have a great day.

What race do you have on Saturday? Whatever it is, I'm sure you'll do great!

It's a challenging trail half-marathon.

That-a-girl. Go get those trail races!!!

From The Quiet Pirate on Mon, Nov 09, 2009 at 13:04:26 from 24.199.205.252

That's a strong wind and some cool temps. I'll bet the wind made it feel even colder.

What's the forecast for your race on Saturday?

Will there be snow on the trail you're running?

From RAD on Mon, Nov 09, 2009 at 13:35:04 from 76.27.12.70

Nice progressive run this morning. Wind is one of my least favorite running conditions, makes everything colder and harder! Good luck at your race, those trails are rough, but I know you'll knock them out!!!

From Carolyn in Colorado on Mon, Nov 09, 2009 at 14:40:14 from 198.241.174.15

Here's the current Saturday forecast:

Mostly cloudy with a chance for rain or snow. Morning lows will be from 23 to 28 degrees, afternoon highs from 42 to 47 degrees.

I really wish this race had been last Saturday. The weather was perfect then.

From RAD on Mon, Nov 09, 2009 at 14:43:27 from 76.27.12.70

yuck...really? Wasn't your last race in the snow and wind? I think you should get a break! I'm hoping for afternoon bad weather, and good morning weather! :)

From Carolyn in Colorado on Mon, Nov 09, 2009 at 15:18:58 from 198.241.174.15

My last race was in freakishly cold weather (like 18 degrees) with just a dusting of snow. Wind wasn't a factor, thankfully.

With all the great training you've put in it's quite obvious that you are going to ROCK IT this Saturday.

Those are my favorite kinds of runs, start slow and get faster.
