Easy run.

5:04 am, 10° F, 40% humidity, winds calm.

I considered working for a while early this morning and then running after the sun rises, but the temperature was high enough when I got up this morning that I decided to go with my regular routine and get the running done first. For the most part, the sidewalks on the main streets in this area have been plowed. I encountered some snowy spots, but it wasn't bad. The snow that is on the ground is more crunchy than slick.

My legs felt surprisingly good on my run this morning. I guess the treadmill didn't take too much out of me the last couple of days.

I was warm enough until near the end of my run, when I couldn't pull my neck gaitor back over my face because I had let it fall down for a while when I was feeling warm and it had frozen. Now I'm really cold, but one son just complained that his shower was cold because another son is taking a bath. So I'll have to wait a while if I want hot water.

I was glad to get outside and off the treadmill this morning.

I think the best thing about a cold run is the hot shower afterward.

Hope you got one in before getting to work :)

Glad to see it is warmer by you. I checked my weather and the high will be 12...but right now it is still 3 degrees and 17 with the winchill. Tomorrow looks like it will be warmer. I'm getting antzy b/c I want to run!

I won't go to work until I've had a warm shower. In fact, I'm thinking of working from home today because I need to make cookies for my daughter's piano recital, which is tonight.

Nice run!! I would work from home, make cookies. But make sure you make enought to eat some too :)

Those are great splits for the conditions!

You know what I think about that comment.

It's hard to imagine running when it's 10* out, let alone running at such a good pace.

I had to laugh a little when you made it sound "warm" enough to run outside because it was 10 instead of 4.

I always thought it would be nice to live in Colorado, but I'm not sure the cold weather would be my thing.

Staying home on a cold winter(er..fall)day and baking cookies....priceless!

Enjoy the recital tonight!

Your morning temp was double ours. I don't think I could leave my house unless it's at least double digits outside. You are a hero.

From Nevels on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 12:36:58 from 131.204.15.93

Treadmills generally tend to rejuvenate my legs for future runs, almost regardless of how tough the run is. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it has something to do with the "sterile" nature of the running (i.e. no rocks, roots, holes, or surprises to work the auxiliary muscles). Interesting concept (in my weird, engineering brain, at least).

Solid running in the cold. Yet again, I think I lost a finger to frostbite by simply reading about your run...

From RAD on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 14:47:17 from 76.27.12.70

Nice run Carolyn, I sure hope you got in a warm shower and are now enjoying warm furnace air!

Great pace over quite a few miles, in the frozen, frozen cold!!

From Bonnie on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 15:53:45 from 128.196.228.134

Hope you had a nice warm cup of tea while you waited for the shower to warm up ... I am glad you enjoyed your trip to Siberia this morning!

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 19:07:01 from 71.219.71.229

On my car this morning it said it was 9 degrees, but it honestly did not feel that bad!! There was one spot where the wind blew and I feared i would lose my nose to frostbite, but other than that....GLAD you got off the treadmill and had a nice run!

From Smooth on Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 23:42:10 from 174.23.217.47

YAY! You got out there and conquer the cold! I love your descriptions of the treadmill runs the last two days...crack me up! I think I can handle the cold as long as it's NOT windy and too slippery!
