It's a freakishly warm morning in between cold days. A storm is supposed to come in tonight.

I ran on the middle school track this morning, which I haven't done in a couple of weeks. The dirt trail leading up to the track was a little muddy and was somewhat difficult to navigate in the dark. My nice shoes are muddy now.

I love running 8:00 pace on the track because it's so easy to hit the pace because each half lap takes 1 minute. That was my pace for the 3K this morning, and I hit it exactly. I ran the 2K at 7:33 pace, and the 1K at 7:12 pace. Those were both a little faster than I intended.

I saw the same person with the dog that I've seen on the track before. I think it's a woman, but I'm not sure. She let the dog run off leash this time, but it stayed out of my way. I was pretty close to the end of my workout by the time they showed up anyway.

I don't know what possessed me to try to sew a Halloween costume for my daughter this year. I spent a bunch of money on the fabric and pattern, but it is just not going well and I don't have time to finish it. I was supposed to get it done last week while I was on vacation, but I procrastinated because I was afraid of it. I was afraid of it (and rightly so) because the fabric I bought is all slippery and hard to work with. I made the bodice on Sunday, and then I worked on the skirts for a few hours last night (it's a fairy costume), but I was really crabby and I finally got frustrated and gave up. I suppose it's worth the cost of a store-bought costume on top of what I've already spent to avoid further aggravation with this thing.

That sounds like a fun run, Carolyn! I like the idea of going faster each interval, but for less time. I may try that. I'm feeling sort of at loose ends without a coach telling me what to do, so I'll take some of your workouts!

Buy the costume and throw your guilt out the window. You can let your daughter practice her sewing on the costume when she gets the urge to want to use a sewing maching.

Muddy shoes are fun because they scream out..."HEY, this lady is a REAL runner!"

Great times on your fast paces. It's cool when you can run faster and longer than you set out for your goal. A little warm fuzzy to make up for your molasses-miserable Monday.

Nice run today! You paces were great! I wish I had that kind of speed :)

I used to sew quite a bit... then my sewing machine bit the dust. Now I got a new one and have only made some pillows for my daughter bedroom. I did buy fabric yesterday to make grocery bags. (I have been one a kick lately about trying not to use the store plastic bags). I have not started sewing them yet. I know that I'm not a good enough seamstress to take on anything to ambitious.

GREAT workout, sorry about the costume. I guess I should be grateful I'm not talented enough to never even think I could do something like that :)

Enjoy the warm...really! This storm is nasty, I'll be happy to send it along tomorrow :)

We switched weather conditions today. Of course, now that my run is done the sun is peeking out a bit...go figure.

Good workout!

Go buy a costume. Sewing IS scary sometimes.

Great run, Carolyn. Sorry about the costume...that stinks. I am not at all capable of sewing costumes for my kids. I went to Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and they had a whole rack of kids costumes for $1.50 each. Score! Do you have a Goodwill by you?

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Oct 27, 2009 at 23:44:29 from 24.8.167.243

I don't know where there's a Goodwill around here. In any case, I got an angel costume at Target tonight.

In other news, the snow has started and it's sticking to the roads.
