Progression Run - 10 miles easy, 3 miles moderate. Average pace: 9:35.

Weather 46°F, 51% humidity, wind 12 SSE.

A friend of mine and her neighbor, who are training to finish a half marathon in June, were running 10 miles today. It was their longest run this far. I ran it with them and then did three more on my own. It was running with people for a change and they kept up a good pace. Splits were 9:38, 9:37, 9:43, 9:52, 9:54, 10:08, 9:55, 10:05, 10:03, 9:50, 8:43, 8:40, 8:23.

We ran on the Highline Canal Trail but there was a race this morning on the part of it that I normally run. So we went to a different part of the trail a little further north. That's actually a really nice section of the trail and has fewer streets to cross than other sections of the trail.

One week to go until Ogden!

Wow, just one week!?! I hope you are feeling excited and visualizing the fun more than the "challenge." You are very well trained and you should have a very respectable finish, but the most important thing is to enjoy your First. I don't know what you've decided about your pacing plan, but I wanted to share a quote from one of my Ravelry.com friends about the mental aspect of pacing. He's a super fast ultra runner (mostly 50 milers). I was sharing my thoughts with him last week and this is one of the things he wrote:

"Yeah, the whole pacing thing is something that we all understand in theory. But putting it in to practice requires learning (first-hand) how not to do it. For a while, I couldn’t understand why all of my “key” races sucked, and all of my last minute, “don’t care” races resulted in good results. Eventually, I realized that the pressure to maintain some predetermined pace in the early miles of the key races was a problem for me."

And that is the same thing I have learned. But whatever you decide to do, be sure to *enjoy* this experience! I think that's key. You'll be in my thoughts this week. :) Sno

I head to Utah on Wednesday. I'm really just looking forward to the vacation and I think I'm relatively relaxed about it right now.

As far as pacing goes, I think I'll just run what feels comfortable in the early miles, as long as it's not too fast. We'll all be surprised to see what happens.

Nice run today!! You are so ready! You have had some great training times, so I think you will do fantastic!

Look forward to seeing you.

If you don't fight the hills (let them pull you) you'll hit your pace pretty effortlessly through the canyon in Ogden. I'm confident you'll run well and even beat your goal time. I've already predicted your time, but can't share it with you until after the race. (Something to do with Karma.) Sadly, I won't be running with you. I'm just not ready for this one.

This will probably be the first of the next 6 times I tell you good luck. I'm still planning to be there to cheer everyone on. I'm very excited for all of my family and friends who are running in this race.

You are going to do great!

I second Sno's quote...During my first 1/2 i set a time of doing it under 2:30 and guess what? I didn't really care about time I just wanted to fnished but I did it 10 minute faster than I thought I could do it. And it felt easy!
