I got a little bit earlier start than usual today because I made my husband drive my son to seminary. That bought me about 15 minutes. I wanted that extra time because I was going on a little bit longer run this morning.

It was a little warmer this morning that it has been. It was 52 and it has been in the 40s in the morning.

I started out and the first half mile was downhill and was feeling pretty good and went out a little faster than I had intended, then it started uphill and was uphill for the next 3 miles, then the rest of the run was more downhill. This explains my slower pace on miles 2 and 3.

Once again I had a child call me on my cell phone during my run. And it happened at about the same place as last time - right as I was passing the great and spacious building. But this time it was a different son. This one wanted to know if I knew where his shoes were. Give me a break! How am I supposed to find his shoes when I'm out on a run. He's 16. He should be able to find his own shoes. I checked the time and figured if he was just looking for his shoes that he was going to be late for school unless he got a ride. A few minutes later I was crossing an intersection and I saw my husband driving my son to school. I assume he found some shoes to wear.

Stats for today:

Average pace - 10:42. Splits - 10:57, 11:22, 11:13, 10:35, 10:15, 9:50.

Saucony Omni 6: 37.93

PM - One hour of Iyengar Yoga.

Too bad we can't get some kind of bonus miles for when Mom-Duties interfere with running! :) Good going on the early start today!

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words on my blog. Have a great day.

Thanks, Snoqualmie.

I did get out a little earlier but not early enough. I was late to work. The thing that kept me from getting out even earlier besides a desire to sleep a little more, is the fact that I haven't gotten a head light or any reflective stuff yet. I'm hoping to get a coupon for a sporting good store at my race this Saturday, and then I'll go shopping.

What a great job! You so rock!

Now, could you tell me what Iyengar Yoga is?

From Carolyn on Thu, Sep 11, 2008 at 11:10:00

Thanks, Deborah!

I'm really not a yoga expert. We have a weekly yoga class at my office and I've been taking it. I know that the variety of yoga that the instructor practices is called Iyengar yoga, but I don't really know how that is different from other types of yoga since I've never done any other type of yoga. I've heard that there are some types of yoga that do some aerobic types of stuff that gets your heart rate up. The yoga I go to is not like that. It's more gentle stretching but also a lot of tensing of muscles.
