Easy run, sometimes bordering on moderate. Average pace: 9:54.

Weather at 5:30 am: 42°, 47% humidity, wind 5-10 mph SSE.

It was hard to get out of bed while it was still dark, but once I got outside I was happy to be out in the crisp pre-dawn air. My legs felt a lot fresher today than yesterday. That makes me wonder about taking a day off before my marathon, which is what my training plan says to do. Maybe it would be better to take the day or maybe two before that off, then just do a short, easy run the day before the race. Thoughts, anyone?

Good mileage and pace today!

I know what you mean, it seems like when I take a day off, the next run suffers a little. It probably wouldn't hurt to run a few easy miles the day before the race. Whatever you feel works best for you.

Great job getting out this morning.

I *always* take 2 days off before a marathon. You certainly don't lose anything.

Nice miles today. I like your weather. :)

I am no expert, in fact, I'm might be the farthest from it on this site, but I've found that I am really strong on Monday's (I always take Sunday off).

Maybe doing a short, easy run two days before and then take the full day off the day before. Just something to think about.

I typically don't feel that great on Mondays (I always take Sunday off too). But I'm always coming of a long hard run on Saturday. I guess I can experiment with my half marathon in March and see what happens.

I think your plan of two days off, then as easy short run the day before sounds pretty good. But I have never really done a good plan getting ready for a marathon so I'm not a great person to ask.

Hi Carolyn, I have never run a marathon before (as you know!) - but, I am pretty sure that Greg will have me jog for 30 mins the day before my race. As a matter of fact, I am pretty sure I won't be taking any "extra" days off the week of the race - though I will be running slower and lower mileage overall (unsually one workout the week of the race - not hard just to remind the body of pace). I like the idea of testing things on your half and seeing how it works for you.

I am betting you run under 1:50 for the half ...
