Easy run. Average pace: 9:11.

9:20 am, 34°F, 85% humidity, winds calm.

Last night it occurred to me that there was no reason to be constrained to running the roads around my neighborhood today and the idea of running on the softer and flatter trail was appealing to me, so I called up my friend Michelle and invited her to run 6 miles on the Highline Canal Trail this morning. So that's what we did. My kids tended her kids while we ran. She also ran 4 miles on the indoor track with her friend this morning, so she did doubles today for a total of 10 miles. She's really been doing a great job with her running and is getting in really good shape. It was nice to run with her today.

We ran a little faster than we intended to. We realized today that she runs faster when she runs with me than she does at other times because she thinks that I'm fast and doesn't want to slow me down. The thing is, I often run faster with her than I do at other times. We kept saying that we should slow down a bit, but we never really did. Splits were 9;12, 9:06, 9:06, 9:10, 9;20, 9:13.

Update: Shred Level 2.

Nice run today! Have you been off work this week? You seem to be running at later times then usual. I love running off the roads. I guess that is why I keep running along the parkway. Even though it's a paved surface at least I don't have to deal with traffic etc.

Seems like a great time. I'm jealous of your access to well-maintained trails and hilly terrain.

Lori, my kids are on Fall Break all week, and so I took the week of work. I've just been sleeping in and taking it easy. It's going to be a shock to my system to have to go back to getting up at 4:30 again next week.

I guess I am lucky to have nice places to run, Craig. The Highline Canal Trail is really nice. I have to drive about 10 minutes to get there, but that's not bad.

What a great run, it sounds like this week off has really been a good thing for you to kind of relax and do some 'different' things! Enjoy it, you do a wonderful job of keeping on top of things even when you don't 'have' to!!

It's great you get to take a little break from the routine.

Way to keep the pace easy this morning.

I just posted something, and when I hit the button, it all disappeared. So if it shows up later and this is a re-peat...my apologies.

I'm envious of your fall break from school. It explains why your blogs haven't been up at the crack of dawn this week.

Our schools haven't had a break since Labor Day and we're all itching for a vacation day.

You and Michelle seem to really compliment each other well. It's fun that you were both trying to keep up with the other. Your paces were very nice!
