Easy run 8.5 miles + 10 x 8 sec. hill sprints. Average pace: 10:20.

Weather at 5:30 am: 20°F, 83% humidity, wind 10 mph S. We got maybe a half inch of snow last night and it stuck to the grass, but only to some sidewalks. The sidewalks and road shoulders that I ran on were sometimes clear, mostly had a thin layer of crunchy snow, and in a handful of spots, were icy and slick. I slipped probably 5 times, but was always able to keep my balance and didn't fall.

I went a little slower on the hill sprints than I have other times. Maybe I was more tired, or maybe it was because of the little bit of snow/ice on the hill. In any case, my paces on the hill sprints were: 8:29, 8;12, 8:42, 8:26, 8:54, 8:03, 8:24, 9:12, 9:14, 8:25.

By new boss is supposed to arrive in Denver today. She lives in Singapore, but has been in California for the last couple of days. I've never met her before - only talked on the phone within the last couple of weeks. She's a runner, so we'll have to see if we can work out a time to run together while she's here.

I'm so jealous of everyone who can run, while I wait for this bug to go away. Good workout today!

I'm so sorry you're sick, Snoqualmie. I hope you get better soon.

I hope your boss gets to run with you. Having her run at elevation will be a real eye-opener for her.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 11:55:30

It might not be fair. Not only is she coming from sea level to high elevation, but she probably has serious jet lag, she's never run in the winter, and she's not currently training for a marathon like I am. But we'll see. She and I talked about it last week, but we didn't play anything specific. I've got an easy 5 miles scheduled for Friday morning, so I may see if she's available to do that with me.

Great run today! .. way to concore the slippery weather. I think your hill spints are still very impressive :) If it works out with your boss, have fun, but take it easy on her LOL
