I had a bit of a hard time dragging myself out of bed this morning even though I got to bed more or less on time last night. I guess I've just got to get myself back into the early routine after having fall break last week. But next week we fall back an hour so it will feel like sleeping in.

I did the level 3 shred this morning. I actually like level 3 better than level 2. It's probably a little bit harder but I like the level 3 exercises better. Level 3 has a lot of jumping (plyometrics) in it. We have a piano in the room that I do the shred in, and there is a metronome on top the piano. It's an electric metronome with an on/off switch on the back, not the old-fashioned weighted pendulum kind that my mom had when I was a kid. But I must have really been rattling the room with my jumping this morning because it turned the metronome on. It was pretty funny. I didn't want to stop to turn it off, but my son came into the room a few minutes later so I had him turn it off.

Explame to me the level 2/3 shred. I'm looking for new things to helpget some speed/strength or best yet weight loss.

Lori,

It's a DVD called Jillian Michaels' 30-Day Shred. It's Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser.

There are three different workouts on it (hence the levels) and each one takes about 20 minutes. She has you do a brief warm up, then 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs three times, and then a brief cool down. The only equipment you need for it is a set of hand weights. I started out using 3 lb. weights and now use 5 lb. weights.

I like it because it's not "dancie". I lack coordination and struggle with complicated dance-like moves. This is more straight up stuff like push ups and lunges. It's really a pretty intense workout, but it only lasts 20 minutes.

It's not geared specifically towards runners. It's more of a weight loss thing. I don't know if it helps my running, but I am also trying to lose weight. And I like that I'm doing something to strengthen my upper body and core, which I don't get from running.

Thanks Carolyn,

That sounds good. I hate the dancie ones also, I'm a complete dork when it comes to that. I will have to check them out. 20 minutes would be great! I have been looking for something like this. I need to loose some pounds also.

Thanks again,

Lori
