To post faster times in this summer's mountain races plus finish a half marathon at at the end of the summer. Would like to improve my Mt. Marathon time for next year plus run the Moab 33K in February.

I would love to do an ultra-distance race, 50 miles or even 110--oh, oh, oh!
Personal:
Single parent, live in Alaska, LOVE trail running, and the trails here are rough, baby. My dog is my best running companion, since she scares away the bears and moose.

Ha, ha. I think I'm using the wrong blog template, since I crosstrain with biking and swimming. Still, it looks pretty darned impressive, eh? Sixty miles of swimming, or even running (I'd still be doing it today, and tomorrow, and the next day ...)

In this template Crosstraining Miles means running mile equivalents. So if you swam for an hour you should put an approximate distance that you would have run in an hour with similar effort.

Hi Moosegal, welcome to the blog. When I enter biking miles, I count 1 mile for every 15 minutes on the bike. That turns 25 miles into about 5. I think the same conversion may work for swimming.
I love trails also!

Great swim! Good stuff! Swimming gives the bones a GREAT rest while kicking the muscles around a bit. My shoulders are finally getting used to all the motion :)

Everyone should check out Burt's blog. His blog is set up to track only miles ran. He has been keeping track of his bicycle mileage too in his comments. Whenever he doesn't run, he puts a zero in total distance and logs the miles in his comments. He understands that it is important to show that he is still training, but that running miles are running miles, and cycling miles are not running miles. Burt really is an awesome and amazing guy (nearly as awesome as ChrisM). Plus, he's really handsome (again not quite as ChrisM but hey).

Ohhh, sounds like I'm in trouble for tracking the wrong miles. My apolgies: Folks in Alaska are pretty laidback and rarely follow the rules. But I thought this was a fun training blog to help us meet our running goals. I had NO idea that people were competing for top miles or that they would be so concerned if I accidentally recorded mine incorrectly. I changed all my "errros," but geez, lighten up, people!

Yeah, I have the same mileage tracker boxes as you, but I wish I could just change to only "Miles", or "Fast Miles" and "Slow Miles"- I don't like to keep track of Marathon, V02 max, etc. Too much! But take at look at this blog to see the most of all http://dandy.fastrunningblog.com/
Don't worry, we're actually laid back. We just give each other grief for fun. Sometimes about mileage, sometimes about stinky clothes or body odor (I hear those complaints a lot), or whatever else we can come up with!

Yes- there are some seriously competitive people on this blog, especially reguarding the mileage board. I am not one of them :) I am with you, the blog does keep me running wo there are less goose eggs ;)
I do love the weeks before the big marathons though, I make it high up n the mileage board for a few short weeks or days :)

Marion, Cynthia, and all the rest, we are competitive, yes it takes allot to run over 60/70/80 or even 90 miles, we dont like to pick on people, we do jest and joke about, but their is a mileage board, that is to show whos doing the most miles, we didnt ask for it, but it's their, and its for miles run as far as I was aware..... we were just making you aware of the fact it messed the board up!
If you can understand that some of us take our running extremely serious, and the mileage board helps our motivation with running the high mileage weeks in our training, and it does feel harsh to have a go but to run this sort of mileage is damned hard!
Please dont get upset we all like to have a fun time on the blogs, I sure do, and love the people on it, please do log your mileage in ways which dont mess the board up, as its their for a purpose.
We are ok about everything else, honest!

Mileage board is there for fun. I added it because some people requested it. It is good for finding people who train in your bracket volume-wise. However, by no means do I want it to become a place where people compete for the top spot. If 10 people are ahead of you because they entered their mileage in kilometers, or because they entered their literal biking mileage, or because they entered their swimming miles in yards, chill out. I am serious about this - compete in a race, there is no reward for running the most miles, except the idiot's reward for running more than your body can handle. Every time I hear a complaint about the mileage board, it pushes me closer to the decision to get rid of it altogether. I personally look at it very infrequently because I do not care who is at the top. I do look at the race reports, though, at least once a week. If you have something to prove, run a fast race.
