Personal:

I'm married with four children.  I run with a group called the Bingham Butt-Kickers, a really fun group of people that gets me out running early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes Saturdays.   I recently found out that I've been running with poor form for many years, which has probably contributed to some nagging aches and pains I've had for years.  One of my big goals now is to be able to run with better form and to have running feel more effortless.  I hope this won't take too many years to achieve!

This was a run I've been wanting to do for a while--up the Suncrest road.  Whenever I've seen this particular road, it has intrigued me, wondering what it would be like to run up.  So today was the day.  We met at 5:30, explored the neighborhoods around there, then at 6:00 started our long trek up.  I just kept thinking, keep things easy and relaxed, just complete the workout.  There were parts of it where I thought we were crazy for doing this, but overall I didn't really hate it like maybe I thought I would.  I was very happy to see what I considered to be the summit, by the information center.  However, Jameson told me he and Peggy went a little higher and it was a lot steeper there.  I heard later that that was probably the real summit.  It was amazing to watch Peggy and Jameson pull away from the rest of us, I think they get the award for best climbers (I've been watching a lot of the Tour de France lately).  I would call them the "mountain goats" of our group (that is a compliment).  Anyway, I was glad to complete the run without too much damage.  The pace up was 11:25.  I obviously need to work on downhill running, because on the way down, I was afraid of falling or possibly twisting an ankle that I put on the brakes too much.  My pace there was 7:58.  On a more gradual downhill I would be able to pace faster, but not on a 10% grade.  Overall, it was a good run, I would like to try it again sometime.  Everyone who ran up, good job, I think we deserve something special for taking on such a tough run.

Good job. I'm sure if I'd come my pace would have been 15 minute miles up and 10 back. I used to be fast on downhill, but now I'm slow on downhill and slower on up hill.

Great job today! Way to pace yourself to the top of that beast. If you want to run Suncrest again, let me know, I will join you!

Nancy--I know what you're saying. Come with us next time we run this, it really wasn't that bad (all right, maybe it was).

Bec--thanks for joining us, it was nice meeting you. I would like to run that again a few times before St. George. I think it would make the Veyo Hill look like nothing. I'll talk to the others and see about when they want to take it on again. Maybe we can even talk Peggy into going with us again!

Cheryl you did a GREAT job getting up that hill! It was a killer, but the reward of getting it done was more than perfect for the effort! Thanks again for the run, it was awesome and I rewarded myself with some yummy cinnamon rolls and cake! :)

Rachel--I'm glad you rewarded yourself, because you deserved it. Getting up that mountain was a great accomplishment. When do you want to do it again?
