We met at the Bingham track today. I'm trying to have a better attitude about the track. Thinking about running on it seems to stress me out. I realized today that if I just get in a good warm-up and feel loose, not tense, that I enjoy it more.
So we did 3 one mile repeats. The first I started out with Michelle M., Cheris and Greg. They were running a fast pace but I just felt like I wanted to stay with them, so that's what I did. The time was 7:13, the fastest mile I've run on the track in over a year. But I felt pretty wasted, so the next one was slower, 7:45. The third I had a little more energy, and did that in 7:29. The last part of the workout was to run two 400s. I really didn't feel like it, but Rachel wanted to (thank you Rachel!), so we ran it. The first I did in 1:39. I didn't want to do the second, but again Rachel said let's do it, so I did, and I'm really glad I did. I felt like I finished strong on that one. Time was 1:35. I was especially happy because it's been a long time since I've been in the 1:30's for a 400. And the best part is I hardly felt sick at the end. It feels good to feel good once again and to finally get my times down to where they've been in the past. I still feel like my thyroid is a little high, so maybe we'll have more improvement in the weeks to come. |
