Tried the elliptical today. I could feel my hip singing to me, especially when I started. I did 30 minutes moderate, then stretched and worked on strengthening.

I hope you enjoy your easy does it running time. I enjoyed doing the elliptical when my hip was hurting me. I hope your leg pain goes away soon.

Sorry...I guess I missed yesterday. It could be piriformis...if it is, try rolling it out with a foam roller. Sometimes scar tissue can build up and cause issues when you get high mileage and work it a ton. Rolling it out helps realign the muscle fibers and decrease the scar tissue. Can't hurt anyway? Well, it might when you first try, but in the long run :)

QP - what song wast that hip singing - highway to hell? It hurts so good?
Deep massage? work it out? If you don't mind a little graphic description, have your hubby work it out with his elbow, it really takes some hard massage to loosen up the buttocks, without Forest

I don't think hips are supposed to sing, though that's a nice way to put it.

hips are singing, ears are ringing....
Went to an amazing Black Eyed Peas concert Friday night! As long as I eventually regain my hearing, it's worth it.
Brent- Highway to Hell sounds about right, but now all I can hear is "My lovely lady lumps." Mr loves the suggestion and is ready to dig in. Thanks Lieutenant Dan!
RAD- my pain was having so much fun he went to a dance....oh, you mean the OTHER pain in my rear???? yeah, I seem to notice it more when I sit and lie down than when I'm up.
Michelle- what was your hip pain caused by?

I am not exactly sure what my hip pain was caused from. I ran more the week I started feeling pain so it could be a bit of overuse. I also had old, bad shoes. When my hip started hurting I took a week off of running and did the elliptical. After a week it was feeling better so I went back to running but it started hurting again. So after a few days of running, I took another complete week off. After that it seemed to be better. One of Carolyn's dynamic stretches seems to help me. In the morning when I wake up, I hold on the my bathroom vanity and swing each leg back and forth in full range of motion. It seems to help my hip. Good luck with your hip!
