With Des News on Thursday, I figured it would be a good idea to run a workout today rather than tomorrow.  I warmed up through the U. While heading toward Research Park, I crossed paths with the Black Sheep doing the HCI loop and joined them for a few minutes.  I turned off when I hit mile 4 so that I could start the 6 mile Tinman Tempo.  The first mile included some trail and some climbing, so 'moderately' paced at 6:32.  Second mile, still a little more climbing heading toward This is the Place, 6:21.  Third mile, some downhill by the golf course and then some flat, 6:02.  The fourth mile was on the flattish section of Wasatch Blvd, 6:10.  After a 180 turn at Wasatch at 2100 South, the mile 5 split was 6:01.  Then some more coasting into the golf course and then another 180 turn to head down to Foothill and 1300 South, so 5:52 for mile 6.  Cooled down four miles back to the house via Steiner/VA/U/Federal Heights.

Aside from a little sleepiness in the first couple of miles, I think this was an appropriate effort level for this run.

Nice easy run. How crazy you going out on Thurs? I'm thinking 4:55-5:05 range and then see how much I fall a part.

It's hard not to run slower than 5:00 in miles 1-2. I think I'll just see how it feels and go with it.

Sounds like a good plan. I remember you blowing my doors off last year. I just reread your race report and now realize that my initial target may be a little conservitive. I agree about going off of feel. I was just testing the waters to see how much more if any I'll see you this time around...

If I didn't know better, I would think that you and I were doing the exact same training program...

Jon--I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

From Adam RW on Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:08:22

Chad, Good cover. We don't want Jon to find out that I'm driving up to Logan everyday and reporting back to you what he is running. I'll remember to keep it hush-hush...
