I'm leaving town this afternoon for the weekend so I wanted to run slightly longer today. Twelve miles is slightly longer than 8 or 9, so that's what I did. I don't know how much I'll get to run this weekend. Anyway, it was an eventful run. While I was getting ready to head out the door I saw a deer walking down the sidewalk across the street (a fugitive from the cemetery herd no doubt). While running, within the span of 3 minutes, I thought I had an achilles tear, turned my ankle, and fell to the ground after slipping on some black ice. I believe I don't have to worry too much about any of these, but we'll see. I ran up into Emigration canyon. On my way down, I saw a huge buck elk with a big rack of antlers perched on the hillside. We waved at each other, said hello, etc. The return run to home actually felt really good. For the first time in weeks and weeks I felt like I have some hope of regaining actual fitness at some point.
