Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

Today I ran on the indoor track at the Orem rec center while Eric took Elliott to her swim class. I felt super speedy (maybe because I was only planning on 3.5 miles and maybe because I wasn't on a treadmill) and ended up running about 2 minutes per mile faster than I usually do. I got confused when I was trying to keep track of the laps, though, so I'm just counting 3 miles even though maybe I had 3.5. It was 6+ laps to a mile and apparently I can't count when I'm running.

I'm starting to get excited/nervous about the Thanksgiving Point half next week. It's the first race in a long time that I'm planning on trying to do my best at, and of course all I can think about is all the things that could go wrong.

I feel ya on those race jitters; however, you have nothing to worry about! You've done the work and the speed will be there, just don't get sick :)

Nice job on a few speedy miles today - I can't ever correctly keep track on those little tracks either. Too much brain power that my kids have sucked out of me.

Nicely done Catherine! You will do great at TP on Saturday! I will be there, but I'm not racing it...I'm doing my 22 miler. I will look for you!

Matt and I might be there on Saturday. Not sure yet, but hopefully. Good luck, you'll do well.

I read in Runner's World that a good way to keep track of laps is to name each one with a city in alphabetical order--Albuquerque, Boston, Cincinnati, up to Zanesville. Sounds like a good idea! See you Saturday. You go girl!

I'm excited to see everyone on Saturday! Toby, you're the only one I haven't met yet, so I hope I'll be able to find you. You and RAD and Lily should all take a picture together because it seems like you're all tall. :)

Catherine, I like that idea! We'll call it "Amazons of the FRB!" :)

Toby will be with me, so keep an eye out and we will meet up!
