Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

I've been feeling super antsy staying home and not exercising this past week, so I decided that today was going to be the day to start running again. Plus my weight has stayed the same for about 4 days (after dropping 1-2 pounds a day after Baby came) even though I'm breastfeeding and not eating a ton.

So I took Tigger out to the high school track a few blocks away and started jogging. Things felt jiggly but not too bad. Then I peed myself. Even though I had gone to the bathroom before leaving home. I knew there had to be a limit to how much pee would come out, but after a quarter mile it didn't seem to be stopping so I went home.

I'm going to try again on Monday.

I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing with you! :) Oh, the joys of motherhood. I'm glad the running felt good and I hope that those abs start holding that bladder up for you again soon. It does come back, just slowly.

Kiss that sweet baby!

Thanks Rachel. I'm hoping it won't be too long before I feel like things are at least a little more normal. Or at least manageable. :)

And your baby's about a year now, right? Congratulations!
