Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

I picked Eric up at school so that he could watch Elliott while I ran on the treadmill at the gym. It was nice to get a run in when I wasn't too tired.

I tried .1 mile at a faster pace and it kicked my trash. I can't believe I used to run a bunch of miles at that pace. But my body is still getting used to running again, so probably it'll be easier later.

Nice miles! I know the pace was slower, but the speed will come back. Give it some time (which is VERY hard!).

It will get easier. Sooner than you expect.

I agree with Rachel. Slowly increase your miles and your pace will decrease on its own when your body is ready.

Thanks everyone.

It's crazy how it does that to us. I've had my last two kids since I started running and so I know exactly what you're talking about. Just takes time. :)

Nice quote FG. Did you find it in a fortune cookie?

I write those little fortune cookie messages for a living.

Nice. I hear that's a lucrative business. Of course it takes some special skill to see into the future and all, so you should be compensated well for it. Good for you.
