Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

Another all-nighter last night. I told myself that night is socially constructed. It worked until the afternoon when I felt like I was going to break. But at least I got done a lot of what I needed to do.

I was inspired by RAD's recent post on running on an incline, so tonight I did my 5 miles with the incline set to 6, nice and slow. I'm not sure if I'll be sore, but in another strike against the Kinvaras I got a blister on that one spot and a bloody toe (gross!) on the other foot. It was one of those things where I didn't know anything was wrong until I took my shoes off.

And is it just me, or does Courtney have kind of thick legs for a model?

no idea who Courtney is BUT...WHAT THE HECK WOMAN?!? FIVE miles at a 6% incline!! I am dying after 7 minutes at a 5.5 and 6.0 pace. How in THE world could you do that for FIVE miles. Okay...game on. I'm doing this tomorrow...well, maybe just one mile at a time...until I hit 30 minutes :)

Wowza, this makes me want to try to set my treadmill at that incline. I run at a 4 incline sometimes, it would be interesting to do a 6. You are getting back up there in mileage. Yay for you!

Remember how I said "nice and slow"? I was going 4 mph. Still jogging, but I could have walked. Nothing to be impressed by. :) I figured I'd have to go slow to keep myself from quitting because I hate running uphill. I think it was good to have that time on my feet, though.
