Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

A long time ago I had a coworker who had played football in college. He was pretty strong, but also pretty soft. Now and again he'd talk to me about weight lifting and such, and I remember that he would do only 15 minutes of cardio three times a week because he was afraid of getting too small. This is what I think about when I see the big guys at the gym.

It was a pretty good run tonight. I'm very grateful for our gym membership in the winter.

I think I'd feel super antsy if I only did weights and very little cardio.

1. Hands down you have the cutest baby. Ever.

2. Boo weight lifting ... too hard. I would rather run 10 miles than do one rep of weights any day.

3. I feel the same way about being antsy. In fact, over the break I was talking to someone about finding a new exercise. She suggested yoga (of course) and I said I would die if I only did yoga -- I need something to get all of my energy out. (She then proceeded to tell me that the reason I have so much energy is because I eat too much sugar which makes me feel 'agitated' so then I go running, "which gives you endorphins you don't deserve". Rude!!) The only alternative I could think of was kickboxing. Which I think I would be really great at, but I would also be too embarrassed to ever try.

i think running is 10x more interesting and enjoyable than lifting weights. i guess that is why i can only do one pull up.

Thanks, Running in Heels! And Allie - I think that one pull up is impressive. For reals.
