Half-marathon: 1:41:41, 8/28/2010 Short-Term Running Goals: Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;) Long-Term Running Goals: I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life. Personal: I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family). Favorite Blogs: |

| | 16:48. Kind of slow even though it was a really short distance...but probably I'll get faster. |

| | I didn't go to the 10k I had registered for this morning (I blame the sherbet, movie theater popcorn and nachos, and carnival funnel cake from last night), so my dog and I went out this evening to try to make up for my slacker-ness. The run took about 59 minutes. Maybe next week I'll be faster. |

| | I read the "How do I train to qualify for the Boston Marathon" and "Top Ten Excuses for Missing a Run" articles and decided to stop worrying about how slow I am. So today I ran 4.02 miles in the morning with my dog and then did about 2.17 miles with a beginner's running group in the evening. It was fun. |

51:25 (5 miles) - Ran a mile of the run barefoot. I liked it a lot. Ran 2 miles around the track at the beginning running group workout and did the last 1/2 mile barefoot.

Boalsburg Memorial Day Race (3.8 Miles) 00:35:39, Place overall: 277, Place in age division: 25 | | Every Memorial Day the little town that is Boalsburg has what they call a 4-mile race (but really it's 3.8 miles) in conjunction with a carnival, car show, and arts/crafts festival. The race shirts are always cow-themed; I'm not sure if it's because Boalsburg is surrounded by farms or if it's because one of the restaurants in Boalsburg has a (fake) cow on its roof. Anyway...I enjoyed the race and was happy that my time was about 3 minutes faster than the last two times I've run it. |

I wanted to run 15 miles, but after 10 I was super dizzy and nauseous...maybe the heat? Maybe too much water? Maybe I wasn't ready for 15 miles?
