Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

My first run this week. I met Toby for a fun out-and-back. She's the perfect running buddy. After we parted I went to the track to just do a faster lap because I was feeling rested (you know...not having run since Saturday) and bring my total up to 5.

10:09, 10:04, 9:55, 9:42, 8:35 (9:40 ap)

I hope everyone gets a chance to read Lindsey's comment on her recent race report. I don't run as much as I could, and I don't have nearly as much going on in my life as she does, but I understand her perspective on priorities/making tradeoffs. I admire her and all the other people who are very successful (with multiple definitions of success) runners while also balancing work, spouses/partners, children, and life. I'm grateful that there are so many here on the blog who are willing to share how they do it.

I just think Lindsey is so cool. She puts us all to shame but is so nice and humble all the same. It is very hard balancing everything.

Glad you and Toby got out ;)

Uhhh...I'm totally making you slow! Thanks for the fun run this morning! I think we all live (alittle) vicariously through the ROCK STAR! I hope to be that fast in my next life :)

I'm glad you girls got out on an awesome run. Great finishing lap! Amazing what a little rest does for us :)

I'll have to go read Lindsay's comment. I haven't been on the blog much, jerk...I know.

Lily - agreed.

Toby - no way are you making me slow. Seriously, whenever we run I worry that I'm holding *you* back.

RAD - yes, rest is good. It's too bad that I can't get better at running *just* by resting...
