Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

I went to Penn State for the PhD I haven't yet gotten (deadline:2014). I never went to a game and I hated campus on game weekends, but I still felt and appreciated Joe Paterno's influence while I was there. And Graham Spanier is a sociologist and demographer and plays the washboard (three things that make people cool). I'm sad about some of the decisions being made, though I know I don't know the whole story.

Anyway...tomorrow I'm going to see a urogyn for the pee problem. Sometimes I think that talking about the pee problem on a public blog is TMI, but then I think that sometime someone else trying to run with the same problem might read my blog and find it helpful.

And here's Elliott! She turned 5 months old on Saturday. I love looking through my posts over the past few months and seeing how much she's changed.

She seriously is SO cute!

This whole Penn state thing hurts my head :(

Good luck at the doc tomorrow!! I hope you get good answers, and not complicated ones.

Thanks Rachel :)

I hope the appt went well. I would take a prolapsed bladder over rectum any day! That was tmi for sure!

From catherine on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 23:39:35 from 98.202.112.51

Eh...you said rectum... (yeah, I'm 12). I agree - my problem is probably a lot easier to deal with. I'm sorry about yours.

The appointment went okay. I'll post about it a little bit tomorrow, but pretty much there's a fix I can try in a couple of months(ish).

I wasn't trying to 1up you :). I'm excited to hear about your solution. Wish mine wasn't so complicated. Jet don't judge me if you see that I had an accident.

I know you weren't! I really am very sorry about yours. And is it the kind of thing where it can't really be fixed until you're done having kids? And for sure no judgment...

I think there are a lot of women with both of these problems ... I am a pee problem gal myself (happens when you get old too). Catherine, I have used a few non-surgical solutions, way too TMI for the blog, but if you PM me I will share ...
