Short-Term Running Goals:

Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;)

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life.

Personal:

I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family).

I don't want to make any spoilers, so I'll just say that I'm glad my favorite is still in the game on The Bachelor

*Great* run tonight, by the way. Problem I've been having since June=fixed. :)

Also, today I started doing all my runs about 30 seconds faster.

REALLY?!? I'm interested! How in the world did you get it fixed? More than anything I'm just glad it IS!!! Awesome!

From catherine on Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 18:25:15 from 98.202.112.38

Thanks RAD! So last semester I had a student in my class who mentioned one day that she worked in a urogynecologist's office. I looked into that and found one to go see and eventually ended up with a stress incontinence pessary thing (it's kind of like those instead cups or those ring birth controls). I'm still getting used to the idea that it works (I still have a bunch of anxiety about it), but I've had two completely pee-free runs so it seems like the problem really is fixed (until Next Baby). It's a huge deal for me because even though I had figured out how to cope with the problem it still bummed me out pretty bad. And my coping strategies (mostly not drinking for several hours before a run and wearing pads and adult diapers (wow, this all sounds so awkward)) wouldn't really work for longer runs.

I'm SO glad that you got it fixed! Plus, there is no such thing as TMI on the running blog :)

Yeah - that's kind of what I figure. And I found a lot of stuff from random strangers that was really helpful for me, so maybe having my issue out on the internets will be helpful for someone else.
