I went running at 10 am with the sun high in the sky and the temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius, I felt it was a good way to start my summer conditioning. I ended up doing a slow jog after yesterday run, but I was happy to be able to still finish the 13.1 I planned. Everybody was around the lake biking, running, walking and sunbathing, water was still cold to swim.

| | I had two friends from Utah visiting Rome, we spent the whole day touring all major touristic attractions walking, I didn't have a Garmin with me but I checked our "course" and we walked in terms of just straight distance approx. 6 miles. Not counting all the stops inside churches, ice cream shops, clothes and shoes shops, or in front of one of the gazillion fountains. Got home at 10:32 pm really tired. I didn't have any will power to go out and run. | Add Comment |
| | Not enough time to run tonight 5 miles in 47:12. I am still recovering from yesterday Rome walking tour. | Add Comment |

Tonight my goal was to keep 4:30/km for the whole 10 miles (my dream marathon pace). I did it. Somehow it was easier than last saturday when I tried the same thing for 13 miles. So I knew I could keep that pace and somehow running during the evening for me is so much easier, in spite the day at work and the commute. I really had to restrain to myself during the first 5 miles and then I went all out during the second half finishing 10 miles in 1:09:59. Finishing under 1:10 it was an added reward.

Long day at work, shorter run than I wanted, at least at the end I felt fully recovered from yesterday. 8.1 in 1:11:53. Time to go to bed.

| | In my plan there was a half marathon in 1:35 but I knew when I was having breakfast that was not going to happen (I was tired and at 7:30 am the temperatures were already around 70F, so it was going to be hottish), there where two options: going 13 miles at slower pace or doing 10 and trying to finish in 1:12. Between the two options the last one was "safer", I know myself pretty well and if I had started with the idea of doing 13 slow miles I would have stopped anyway at 10. I finished 10 miles in 1:11:25 so I was very happy with that, but going for 3 more miles would have been very hard and at 9:15 when I finished the temperatures were around 80F. I am glad I have the whole day ahead.
