Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

Rest day. Legs are still tired especially my hips. I didn't sleep very well last night too much adrenaline and my hips every time I was turning reminded me they were in pain. For sure the 3 hour drive back home last night didn't help.

Every marathon for me has its signature pain: Ogden and Des News quadriceps on fire (Ogden 3/5, Des News 5/5), Rome calf cramps/pain, two different trail marathons (BoSho and Monti cimini) knee and ankle tenderness, Pescara hips, Park City except for the usual being dead tired didn't leave any specific pain or tenderness.

I will take a couple of days off or until pain is gone and then I will do a reverse taper. A few more days of vacation from running will be good.

You must be the only person I've ever heard of who doesn't feel the slightest emotion before running a marathon, but then can't sleep because of too much adrenaline the night AFTER it! :)

Hahahaha, Claudio, this was the first time for me too. I am kind of a freak!!! Plus you have to consider that there was no expo to pick the bib number, the cost of the race was just 25 euros and I received the goodies bag after returning the timing chip. So my body didn't register the usual hints that I was going to run a marathon.

On the sleeping department, however, I always slept very well before any marathon, 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep are crucial to my physical and mental wellbeing. Hence, lack of sleep after it is a strong indicator about my emotions after the race.
