Personal:

My name is Eugenio I was born near Rome, Italy, in 1972 and lived there for 29 years, then in 2001 I moved to Salt Lake City for work and for seven years and one month that was my home, since 2008 I am back to Italy. I started running in 2003 when I realized I could not ride my bike throughout the Utah winter.

Evening run 7.5 miles at 4:28/km then 0.5 miles cool down. Another good workout to test/train my perspective/ideal/dream marathon pace.

I really like the title of your blog. Nice running so far this year.

I am happy with my running so far.

I took the title of my blog from an Harry Potter book, the rest of the sentence is "more than our abilities" (it didn't fit in the allowed space).

I had actually looked it up after I made the comment and found it funny that it came from Potter. It is a good quote. I think my aims are complete now for the next three weeks it is crunch and finalize time. How is the grant situation in Italy?

Grant situation is very different and is very bad, just two "reliable" agencies funded through public support, one for genetic diseases and the other one for cancer research.

Last year I was lucky enough to get a grant on cancer research for young investigators. It is very small compared to a US grant but it is life so I can work on my own project.

I am one of the few people around with a funded project I am feeling very lucky indeed.

You take what you can get, and congratulations for getting what you can. It is a painful process that only a few of us would willingly subject ourselves to.

I'm really "enjoying" the grant writing now and though it is super painful I am finally finding the words to express why I do the science I do...
