6/24- Logan Peak Trail Race (28 Miles): 4:00:00 Long-Term Running Goals: After my mission (tentatively June 2017-June 2019), which will be two years of virtually no running, I want to build my fitness back up stronger than it ever was before. Then when I think I am ready I may attempt for a spot on the USU roster again. We'll see how long I have to do that based on age and eligibility and stuff. If I don't ever do it that's fine, I'll still have a lot of fun with running. Some times I want to beat someday:
15:30 5K
1:10 HM
2:40 Marathon
I have a fantasy in my mind of really breaking through in the marathon and making the olympic trials but we'll see about that haha. That would honestly be a dream come true. I definitely want to run the Boston Marathon at least once. Also maybe when I'm old but not too old I might try a 100 miler to qualify for Western States.
Personal: Freshman at Utah State University. I still have not chosen a major. Just graduated from Logan High School in May 2016. One thing I enjoy aside from running is music, weather it's playing or listening. I am member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and plan on serving a two-year mission after two semesters of school.

| | 10x400. 2:50-3:00 active recovery (400 jog). As you can see, the track was snowed over as was every other track probably (shoutout to Coach Strand for shoveling lane 1 during lunch, you the real g). I got off to a rough start, partly because we only had a narrow pathway and there were ice patches to dodge, but I think it was a good workout knowing that I probably would've averaged 2 seconds faster if the track was clear and it wasn't so cold. Splits:
74.6, 82.5, 78.3, 73.3, 76.8, 76.0, 73.7, 72.5, 73.7, 64.2.
74.56 avg. 4:59 /mi
Pretty good, the last one I really pushed it, but I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't get to push it as hard as I could've because of the ice, but it's all good, this pretty much confirms that I'm going to PR in the mile come the first indoor meet, I could probably PR right now.

| | Slow run (8:28 avg) with Paul and Esmerlin. Esmerlin is from the DR, it was fun to talk to him. Pretty cold today. We did the cliffside loop. 4x100 on the track after.

| | Felt flat today for some reason. Sort of a taper workout, I warmed up with the team and then headed outside and ran one 5:40 mile around the school in my old XC flats, they did not feel good. When I finished it my watch said it was a 6:00 mile and that was discouraging but turns out it was 5:40. Excited for the trip and the race! I think I'll just wear my sauconys because they actually feel really good on the pavement with no spikes.

| | Run in St. George with Ethan Field and the MC guys. Super fun, and I didn't feel too bad about not running with my team because they just messed around lol. Turned out to be 6:48 avg pace but it didn't feel too bad, we were at like 2,000 ft eleveation. We were on a paved bike path the whole time, loved it. ANd we ran with our shirts off, havn't done that in a while!

| | We left Huntington Beach today later than expected and the traffic was horrible so when we got to the course it was completley dark, but we were still able to run it. Didn't feel too good because I had like a headache all day and moved around alot at the beach. The hills were bigger than I remembered, and just like last scared me about tomorrow.

FOOT LOCKER WEST- Senior Race (3.107 Miles) 00:19:58 | | I'm not gonna write much of a summary, but today jsut wasn't my day to have a good race. I didn't have my heart problem or anything, I just felt really tired. I think yesterday being so wild just took it out of me. Dissapointing for my last XC race, but it was still a super fun trip and I didn't even think about my race for the rest of the trip, it was great. I did have a good kick, passed like 5 people on the track lol. But yeah not my day. Shoutout to the 3 guys from Utah who qualified for nationals and just happen to all be on FastRunningBlog (Garek Bielaczyc, Talon Hull, ConnorBaller), guess the name is true. And ETHAN for getting 14th! Get back on the blog ETHAN, if I can do it with Strava you can too! (even though I'm writing this a month after the actual race lol)
