Personal:

I have been married for almost 14 years to the best man in the whole world.  I have 5 awesome kids and am trying to "find joy in every journey."

I love to run because it involves only me and it challenges me.  It helps me feel good about myself.

Running Rules of thumb

1. If you see a porta potty with no line, use it.  Even if you don't need to

2. If you have to ask yourself, Does this driver see me? The answer is no.

3. If you have to ask yourself, Are these shorts too short? The answer in yes.

4. 1 glazed doughnut = 2 miles

5. You rarely regret the runs you do; you almost always regret the runs you skip.

6. Not everyone who looks really fast is, and not everyone who looks slow really is.

7. Nobody has ever watch Chariots of fire from beginning to end.  Not even the people who made it.

8. You can never have too many safety pins on your gym bag.

9. Running any given route in the rain makes you feel 50 percent more hard-core than covering the same route on a sunny day.

10. If you care even a little about being a jogger versus a runner, you're a runner.

I've seen that. #10 applies to me the most, I think.

Are you sure about #7?

Steve- have you seen Chariots of Fire? I have never seen it. I hope I didn't offend you. It came from a list out of a Runners World magazine. I thought it was funny.:)

:) #5 applies to me and #6 is so true!

Oh yeah, I always cringe inside when someone tells me: "I see you out jogging all the time." May be I should have a shirt printed: "I am NOT a jogger."

Hmmmm, I am a jogger and proud of it!

But, I have to attest to #1 on the list. How many times have I skipped the lineless porta potty only to lose 5 minutes in the race 3 miles later when i just could not hold it any longer????

And, of course, #5. We all know that one is the truest of all. Oh wait, maybe #4 is. I am constantly thinking about how many miles I would have to run if I ate the cookie or the ice cream or the chocolate (not that it stops me from eating it, or 5, but at least I think about it!!!)
