Personal:

I have been married for almost 14 years to the best man in the whole world.  I have 5 awesome kids and am trying to "find joy in every journey."

I love to run because it involves only me and it challenges me.  It helps me feel good about myself.

So I am staring out my week with hopefully a good note. I walked for an hour today and so far so good! I have to be careful though because I am so obsessed with my leg that I think I am creating phantom pain. I just need to try to focus on other things. I am really praying that I can keep progressing and not have any set backs.

All last week I did some classes at the rec center. They totally kicked my butt! It felt really good. I am going to try to do the classes at least twice a week. My body needs a complete overhaul. I have to say that that is one good thing about this stress fracture. It has helped me focus on other things than just running. And I really needed that.

I registered for the SLC half marathon which is this saturday and obviously can't run it. So am trying to see if I can change it to the 5k and walk-run it. I hope they will let me.

It is my birthday today and my husband got me the best book as one of my gifts(I am going to get my new shoes too!  I can't wait!), it is called "Born to run" it is written by Christopher McDougall and I think anyone who like to run should read it. It is a true story that is about this tribe in Mexico in the Copper Canyon.  The tribes name is" Tarahumara" and they are known for their endurance any physical health.  They have a crazy diet that includes the seeds that you use with the chita pets.  You soak them in water and they turn into a gel and you eat it.  It is suppose to give you an incredible amounts of energy.  They are known for running for 4 days straight without much food of rest.  I just started it, but I am hooked.  Any way if anyone wants a good read I recommend it.

Happy Running! :)

Happy Birthday!

Great work doing the classes at the rec center. It's good that you're using the stress fracture and an opportunity to do some other types of exercise.

I've read Born to Run. It's a great book.

Happy Birthday! It's nice to see you back. Sorry about the back track on the SF, honestly that was the hardest part for me!! You are doing GREAT looking at the bright side and keeping active despite it all.

Enjoy the book and the shoes (when they come!). I'm doing the SLC 1/2, I'd love to meet up with you somehow at the end. I have a few friends doing the 5K that I think will wait for me, so I don't think it will be too long of a wait.

Hey Kelli- I am good. I have kind of gotten into a bad funck. I have been doing classes but no running. I am really scared to start running again because if my leg starts to hurt I might freak out. I am going to try a little running this week and hope and pray that it will be good.

Got my new shoes and had them altered...zero drop is what it is called. I am hoping that will help.

The book rocks!!! I gets me all fired up to run, now I just have to get over my fear that it "might" hurt. I did sign up for a 10 miler in June. We will see. :)

Thanks for checking up on me. :)

Injuries do kind of take the wind out of your sails for sure!!! But you will be back in no time, and you have a goal in June so that will motivate you!

Glad you are enjoying the book, it is interesting!
