Finally I got a run in.  It wasn't pretty, but I did it.  There's still a slight crick in my neck, but it's manageable.  Also, yesterday just sitting in church my knee started hurting right on top.  What the heck is up with getting all these injuries while I'm just sitting doing nothing??  Is it a sign?

Time - 26:17 (avg. pace 8:38)

Splits - 8:46, 8:36, 8:33, 0:23

Temp - 90° and it wasn't even 8AM yet!

Burt, sometimes I think sitting and doing nothing causes more injuries than running. While I was out with a stress fracture earlier this year, I got two injuries and I don't even know how they happened. The first was knee pain and it hurt the worst while I sat at my desk at work. That lasted for a couple of months. The second was this pain in my foot. It just showed up one morning after I woke up and it still hurts. I have an appointment in an hour to have it checked out, again.

Donny Boy - exactly! What's up with that?

Scott - not everyone has a pusher that gets them discounts like you do.

Funzo - Park Avenue leads to Skid Row.

So..... you're saying it's hot in Arizona?

From ChrisM on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 14:59:35 from 86.10.81.85

sitting down is no good, my body does not like it! you need a standing desk.

you should live in awesome England--only 66Fs here

From Burt on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 15:05:31 from 206.19.214.144

Deron - I'm saying I'm surprised you don't burn your fingertips everytime you come to my blog!

Chris - Awesome England? Heck yes I should! Does it ever rain there?

From ChrisM on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 15:35:24 from 86.10.81.85

well you would need to take up the two most popular English pastimes: 1) queuing, (for everything/anything, if no queue then you need to start one) and 2) discussing/moaning the weather, what ever the weather you must complain about it

From Rye on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 16:16:07 from 174.27.98.11

Ya Burt, it's a sign....not a good sign at all. Hey, I was wondering, I see that you fight terror by riding your bike to work... how far is your commute?

From Merri on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 17:40:06 from 160.7.252.148

define 90°

From Burt on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 18:02:24 from 206.19.214.144

Rye - when I lived in Queen Creek it was a 17.5 mile ride one way. I would do it three times a week for 105 miles on the week. Now I live 2.5 miles away, so I only get in about 25 miles a week.

Chris - Please field Merri's question.

From flatlander on Mon, Jun 13, 2011 at 21:02:24 from 76.31.26.153

My injuries hurt worse the longer it gets from my last run, I think it's because swelling sets in after the high wears off.

Perhaps the answers you seek are in that fortune cookie. Just saying.

If injuries are a sign...I am in big trouble! :(

90 degrees:

The average temperature of Burt McCumber's forehead after watching the Oprah Winfrey show for 5 minutes after starting with an initial temperature of 30 degrees.

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 10:34:29 from 152.26.59.252

You should sit on a big exercise ball. At work, at church, even get your car fitted with one. That'll keep away those nasty sitting injuries.

From Carolyn in Colorado on Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 11:42:52 from 76.25.72.82

Treadmills in Sunday School. That is the answer.

From GoBeth on Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 11:44:23 from 98.206.35.13

I think Dale and Chris got it right- sitting around is going to screw you up and make you stiff! Osteo Bi-Flex... I swear by it!

From Burt on Tue, Jun 14, 2011 at 14:22:14 from 206.19.214.144

Flat - solution: never stop running.

Dan - I could hear a Chinese accent when you said that.

S8 - Yeah, you're worse off than me. you're pretty much doomed.

Chris - Make sure you specify that's Celsius so we Americans can understand.

QP - We had one for a while. Maybe I'll see if I can find it. I think Jim Halpert stabbed it with a pair of scissors.

Beth - Thanks for the tip!
