As I prepare to make the trip up to Mesquite tomorrow, I'm reminded of the time I went to Lake Havasu City and stayed with Rhett.  Rhett's son, Chase, asked his dad if we were old friends.  "No son, we're new friends.  We met on the internet."  "Oh.  That's kind of weird" Chase replied to which we both had to cordially and awkwardly agree.

Laughing hard, but I'm glad we became friends. Some day we will be able to say we are "old friends."

lol! My husband always raises his eyebrows when I say I'm going to a race with or going to meet some runners I met on the blog. In any other situation I would exercise EXTREME caution, but if it has to do with running? I'm in!!! :)

Yes, I've had some explaining to do to my kids when I run off to meet my "internet" friends! I have a theory about internet friends: I think the medium allows us to be friends with different kinds of people that we might not "choose" in "real" life, and I think that's a good thing! That being said, its exactly why I don't want my daughter to make internet "friends". HMMM.

ha ha ha ha ... that is funny coming from a generation who has (or will have) even more "virtual" friends than we do!!

You are too young to be an "old" friend of mine, but I certainly count you among my friends.

Good luck this weekend!!

Burt, not to worry, have met several bloggin buddies, always great people. I have met the best runner on the blog on a dirt trail in Moad, Paul (18th at the Olympic trials), paced to this finish by Sasha and Air Darkhorse at a 15K, ran with Bonnie around Liberty park, and the list goes on, all great people and runners. Hey, if you have an opening next year on a relay team for a slow runner, I'm in, we are buying a second home in St.George in a couple of months, you will be welcome to meet another new old friend.

Stay Kool, Good Luck on Saturday, B of BS Rools out

Rhett - We're high priests. We're old by definition. LOL.

Rachel - see you in a few hours. But don't worry about me. It's that internet guy Walter you want to worry about.

AuntieEm - You wouldn't like me in "real" life. I'm a phoney.

Bonnie - Thanks. I can't wait to add you to the new list of "Bloggers I've Met in Real Life."

Brent - I feel like I've already met you.

JD - you gotta love the honest frankness of children.

Britta of the hills - thanks!

Sam - Yes, be careful of Chris. Anyone who has whiter and hairier legs than me has got to be a nutter. (That's British for crazy, right?)

flatlander - I still plan on running London's Run in Feb. See you then.
