My plan today was to run two easy miles and try to run the last one as fast as I could.  While this is my fastest pace for three miles in the post high school era, it didn't feel great.  I felt like I was still feeling the effects of Saturday's long run.  Some of my muscles were achey, and I just couldn't open up my stride.  Hopefully, by Saturday I'll be feeling fresh and ready to go.

Since I used the word feel so much in my post, here is a song:  Feelings, nothing more than feelings, trying to forget my, feelings of love...

It took me a couple days to get over the achiness in my muscles, too. Especially my calves. I am not planning on any tempo miles this week as a result. I have no doubt that you could run faster, although it should already be noted that this time for 3 miles would give you a 5K PR (it doesn't take 1:21 to cover 0.1 miles). I think it may be more beneficial to focus on trying to add more daily mileage so that you don't have a huge difference between your daily miles and your long run. Last year, when I was in my peak of training for SGM, I was running about 8 miles daily, with a long run of anywhere from 10-15 miles.

That's probably real good advice. I thought about going out for a 6 mile run, but wasn't sure if I should try and do a speed workout instead with my race this Saturday. What do you recommend I do for the next two days?

Burt, make it a nice and easy run. Nothing tiring, simple pace. Go a distance that you feel you could do comfortably.

No speed work, I agree with James. Go for the mileage.
