Last night I took my family over to Marathon Dreamer's house to go swimming.  Everyone had a good time.  I was really impressed at how well her kids could speak Spanish after only living in Mexico for one year.  Her husband getting stung by a bee provided some much needed entertainment.  What was the point of this story?  Oh yeah.  So I soaked in the hot tub for 20 minutes and got pretty dehydrated.  I made sure to drink a lot of water and Gatorade to replenish.  By the time I did Plyometrics last night I was plenty hydrated because I was flicking sweat on my wife from across the room.

This morning's run with MD was perfect.  Nice, slow, and perfect.  I feel pretty good now.  Today we didn't stop at my house.  We just kept going on our out and back run along the Consolidated Canal.

Splits - 9:45, 9:39, 9:30, 9:44, 9:35, 9:14

My wife and Marathon Dreamer talked me into posting this.  I think I'll only keep it up for a week, so download it now.  Make your copies.  Create your silly photoshops.  This is a limited time only.

Day 31 P90X - Chest and Biceps/Ab Ripper X

Haven't done Chest and Bicep before.  I was excited to see that it was only 50 minutes long.  Using bands and chair assisted pull-ups, it's not that bad.  Ab Ripper X doesn't seem to get any easier.  The simple explanation is that as you do it more, your form gets better, and you really work it instead of dogging it.

Lookin' good there Burton! You could have just worn some stretchy pants and your nacho mask to hide your identity.

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 11:23:07 from 68.225.214.248

Ha! I thought about putting the Day 1 and Day 30 over my face.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 11:26:24 from 66.239.250.209

Burt, in 30 days you are more tan and have less chest hair. That P90X is the bomb. :)

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 11:27:46 from 66.239.250.209

Oh and you get the steel nuggets award for posting this up. I have to give you props for that.

From Lily on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 11:35:35 from 67.199.181.73

looking good!

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 12:02:28 from 206.19.214.144

Scott - I think it's just the lighting. LOL!

Lily - I promise to get a wax and a tan before the 90 day pictures.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 12:24:39 from 66.239.250.209

Seriously Burt, nice work. You have lats now, and I can see more tone in your arms/chest and less flab on the belly. Nice work. Yeah, for the love, please shave and tan before the 90 day pics.

From Mike on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 13:21:31 from 155.85.58.253

You need shorter shorts. There's no way to assess progress in your quads.

From ChrisM on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 13:26:49 from 86.180.142.232

Is there a member of the P90X marketing team on the blog?

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 13:35:17 from 206.19.214.144

Thanks Scott.

Mike - if you think my legs are white now, wait 'til you see my quads! Put some shades on.

Chris - A guy I went to high school with is, and he got me into it. So if you want anything from the Beachbody company, get it through my website so I can get a commission :) Anyway, this guy did join the blog, but has never blogged. 1MileToGo is his handle.

Is not wearing socks cheating? :) Good job.

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 13:41:59 from 206.19.214.144

Paul - whoever said P90X was fair? And whatever you do, don't look at my blog entry from yesterday.

From The Quiet Pirate on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 15:01:24 from 65.191.108.72

i see you lost some socks and shoes in your 30 day workout

hot tub dehydration machine.. always a nice way to relax

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 15:16:13 from 206.19.214.144

QP - our high school colors were blue and gold. I have a picture of me with my freshman basketball team, and I'm wearing these big tube socks with red stripes. Wow!

From RAD on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 15:33:48 from 67.172.229.125

wow, you really are brave! However, you look good - keep up the hard work. Can't wait to see the 90 day pics.

From Rhett on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 18:27:23 from 74.32.211.9

Nice! I was going to say what Scott said about the tan and hair, but he beat me to it.

I do agree you have some serious stones to post those pics.

From The Quiet Pirate on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 19:14:55 from 65.191.108.72

that basketball pix would be awesome to see!!! Post that for a pre-pre P90X pix.

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 20:27:12 from 68.103.243.161

Looking good Burt!

From Burt on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 20:32:58 from 206.19.214.144

RAD - I'm afraid you are going to have to wait 60 more days.

Rhett - Yep. I'm sure I'll regret it sooner or later.

QP - I was so skinny back then with a huge mop of hair on my head.

April - thanks!

From allie on Wed, Aug 04, 2010 at 20:55:59 from 174.23.226.74

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 03:18:14 from 71.219.102.155

You are indeed brave, you get credit for that! I do not see anyone else posting half naked before and after pictures! And bravo on being an avid sunscreen wearer.

Awesome job, so 60 days to go???

From SlowJoe on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 10:40:41 from 84.11.148.246

Nice, Burt - definitely a difference in just 30 days. You shouldn't have smiled in the Day 1 pic though - you're supposed to look sad and meek in the before-shot. But congrats and keep it up!

From auntieem on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 12:42:57 from 71.197.249.174

Wow! Good results in 30 days. I need some lats; I might have to try this p90x thing.

From Doone on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 16:42:21 from 74.36.34.151

I am so expecting you in the next infomercial or I am going to be so bummed. You rock!

From Burt on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 17:14:57 from 206.19.214.144

allie - I am? Oh, you're too kind.

rooster - if it makes you feel better I'll let you rip the wax from my body.

Kelli - half naked? Well, it's true, but did you have to say that? 60 days to go!

Joe - lol! You're right about the not smiling. I just go botox injections a couple of hours earlier, so I couldn't help it.

Auntie - Now why on earth would you need lats?

Doone - aren't those people actors? haha!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 05, 2010 at 18:27:02 from 71.219.102.155

YES

I am so happy that you put these pictures up Burt! You are one gutsy dude... but I gotta tell ya.... there's quite a change in 30 days!! You have done so great and you should be proud of yourself!!!! Way to go my friend!!!

From Burt on Fri, Aug 06, 2010 at 12:41:12 from 206.19.214.144

Toby - Last night I watched Labyrinth. I bet you love that movie. Because the baby's name is Toby.

Merri - no, you're looking nice. And I can't even see you.

KC - thanks. See you tomorrow.
