I had my alarm set for 4:30.  Without realizing it I kept hitting snooze over and over.  After an hour of doing that the snooze feature no longer works.  That's when I realized I was supposed to be up and meeting Marathon Dreamer at the usual place.  I had about 10 minutes to get ready.  No shower.  No shaving.  No brushing my teeth.  I did throw some deoderant on.  I'm sure that helped.  I hopped on Facebook to see if she was online, but I missed her by 7 minutes.  I was about to run out the door, but I knew I'd have an accident if I didn't take care of business.  So finally I run to my truck and drive to Pei Wei's.  I see MD running in the parking lot.  Apparently she too was about to have an accident.

After our innards had settled down we ran our regular route except this time we went further up the canal to get another mile and a half in.  We grabbed some water at my house.  By this time my shirt was soaked thru with sweat, but I didn't change it.  It rained last night, so sweat levels were at a 10.  I decided to run the last 2.5 miles with Ginger.  She enjoyed it, but started to wear out the last half mile as MD pulled away.  Thanks MD for getting me out!

Day 24 P90X - Kenpo X

I've officially made it farther than last time I tried to do the P90X program.  And this time I haven't skipped any days.  Woot woot!

It was a good run and so glad that we each took care of "business!" As always... my pleasure to run with you!!!

From missy on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 00:39:34 from 71.32.194.105

Sounds like it ended up a pleasant morning! :D I had fun times running in AZ...We almost moved back there a year or so ago..but looks like we are staying put. Maybe California could change my mind tho. ..

From SlowJoe on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 06:15:45 from 214.13.130.104

Is Pei Wei the Mormon euphemism of "taking a leak?" I guess maybe not, if it has its own parking lot. Anyway, nice mileage today! I noticed you gained 205 lbs since yesterday though - may want to get that checked out.

From ChrisM on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 06:19:13 from 130.88.123.4

I ssuggest affixing a nail to the snoozer button, no more problems

Nice miles Burt! Running AND P90X! You are going to be super duper fit!

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 12:32:21 from 66.239.250.209

Burt- Does TMI mean anythingto you? Haha!

I'm ok with you not showering or shaving, but not brushing your teeth? Ask Allie what she thinks of running next to bad breath. Ha.

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 12:45:31 from 65.191.108.72

Takin care of business.... very important.

No bleeding nipples today? I guess the mousse must have worked ;-)

From Burt on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 12:56:58 from 206.19.214.144

MD - Sorry about Ginger trying to run you off the road and into the canal a couple of times.

Missy - California knows how to party. So I hear.

Joe - I just started a new diet. You have to gain weight to lose weight.

Chris - a rusty nail?

April - How is your husband liking P90X? Hasn't given up yet, has he?

Scott - no amount of teeth brushing can get rid of my chronic dragon breath anyway.

QP - the mousse is working wonders. Thanks for the tip.

From allie on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 13:21:43 from 174.23.226.74

1. scott is right. i have this thing about breath. especially on the TM or at church. stay away.

2. pei wei always gives me bowel trouble.

3. congrats on your P90X progress.

From Burt on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 13:28:30 from 206.19.214.144

Thanks allie! The first time I went to Pei Wei's I saw this menu item I think it was Coconut Chicken Curry. I was like, "I love coconut." Why didn't anyone tell me how nasty curry was???

From allie on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 13:39:08 from 174.23.226.74

curry is very similar to what you will find inside of a diaper or on the floor of a tilt-a-whirl ride.

Burt--David is still doing it. Day 3 was hard for him because he was beat up from Plyometrics. He says today he feels better and is ready to go though.

From slowrunning@msn.com on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 21:16:44 from 24.92.31.152

Do you really shower, shave, and brush teeth before each run???

From Burt on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 22:02:51 from 68.225.214.248

Slow - allow me to reveal some intimate details about my personal hygiene. I don't usually shower before a run unless I'm going on a group run. I want to be as fresh and clean as possible because I sweat TREMENDOUSLY. As for shaving and brushing my teeth, yes! It's always been my routine to do that before I shower. If I don't, I forget. Now, one more intimate detail; I did not shower the night before, and I sweated like a razorback doing my P90X workout. I was really concerned for MD's sake.

From The Quiet Pirate on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 22:36:46 from 65.191.108.72

Burt, it sounds like you've got the potential to be a real "knock out."

From Toby on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 22:59:03 from 216.194.124.37

Woot woot for the P90x! When you reached the 90 days YOU'D BETTER POST BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES.

From missy on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 23:14:26 from 70.56.96.148

The Doc is hot. :P Love G. Island

From AZDesertmonsoon on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 23:35:07 from 204.17.31.126

Ok, somethings not adding up here. Razorbacks are pigs. Pigs don't sweat, which is why they roll around in the mud. I think you need a different metaphor. Perhaps "I was sweating like a big gulp in Arizona in July." Well it isn't quite as concise, but much more accurate.

From Burt on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 01:33:22 from 68.225.214.248

QP - Because I'm stinky? I'll have you know I'm just as effective of reviving people who have passed out.

Toby - I will. As long as they after pictures make my before pictures look good.

AZDM - I thought if I chose such an obscure beast, nobody would know. "Like a razorback? That must be bad."

From Lindsey Dunkley on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 02:03:14 from 75.169.144.67

Impressive with the P90x workouts...you definitely have to post pics of your results!

PS: You are seriously funny!

From Burt on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 02:15:18 from 68.225.214.248

Thanks Lindsey!

Hey everyone, if you haven't read Lindsey's latest race report, do it now! All I can say is HOLY COW!

I know AZDM, cows are only holy in India.

From ChrisM on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 04:06:34 from 130.88.123.4

Burt aren't you running in like 100 degree temperatures? ANyone would sweat in those conditions!

From Burt on Fri, Jul 30, 2010 at 11:47:05 from 206.19.214.144

Actually last night was real good temperaturewise. We had a little monsoon come in that lasted about an hour early in the evening and cooled everything off.
