I figure since Tuesday was the only day I didn't run last week, today should be the only day I run this week. :P  So I wanted to do some speed work.  When I started running my shins got super tight.  I hoped that they would loosen up because I wanted my second mile to be a fast one.  I got to 0.93 and stopped to stretch out.  That helped a little, but they tightened up again.  So I pushed as hard as I could for about three quarters of a mile and jogged home.  I guess I'm not recovered from Saturday's run.

Time - 21:27 (avg. pace 8:18)

Splits - 8:41, 7:26, 5:20 for 0.59 (9:05 pace)

If I've said it once I've said it a million times shins hate speed work.

From fly on the Wall on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 11:11:26 from 204.113.19.47

Burt, Is it really wise to push as hard as you can when things tighten up?

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 15:23:11 from 206.19.214.144

Merri - What if you say it twice?

Fly - are you asking because you don't know or are you trying to teach me a lesson?

From fly on the Wall on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 15:53:11 from 204.113.19.47

Neither. Pushing hard while tight, might not be the wisest thing but sometimes it is fun to throw caution to the wind.

Which you've done more than once lately... Really I just wanted to leave a comment on your blog because you told Sasha he was hot (technically you just implied it).

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:02:15 from 206.19.214.144

Haha! Well I took a risk there, but you know it's not frowned upon for men to kiss each other on the lips in Russia. Sasha told me himself.

From fly on the Wall on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:07:11 from 204.113.19.47

I bet he did!

From Lily on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 16:20:15 from 67.199.181.73

I knew you'd be back to you minimal mileage days in no time. I was soooo right!

Come do some speed work with me. It'll put you out for a week :)

From Tracy on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:01:53 from 173.23.75.96

Maybe my blog entry for today will cheer you up.

From runningafterbabies on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:06:27 from 24.10.211.135

I think you just need to loosen up a bit.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:11:39 from 206.19.214.144

Lily - at least I'm not in need of lobe replacements.

Tracy - how can you harbor so much hate over so long a period. Don't you know that it will eat you up inside? I bet you don't know what to do with the rest of your life now that you're out of the revenge business!

Melody - Hardy har!

From Tracy on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:12:56 from 173.23.75.96

I'm not done yet. Maybe next week there will be more.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:16:47 from 206.19.214.144

Don't start a fight you can't finish.

From Tracy on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:17:54 from 173.23.75.96

I'm not starting a fight. I'm seeking to amuse myself and others. I'm doing a service to humanity.

From Burt on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 18:20:26 from 206.19.214.144

I have to admit, it is amusing. Bravo Tracy. Bravo.

tight shins are a precursor to cracked hand syndrome. enjoy.

From april27 on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 21:00:03 from 99.188.251.180

blips??? I'm laughing so hard I can't see..hahahah

From RAD on Tue, Jan 18, 2011 at 23:45:35 from 67.172.229.125

Nice work on that speed work with all your tigins and blips this morning!

(did I mention how much I love my sister? I can't think of anything witty to say, so I'm just riding on her coat-tails. Everything I need to know I learned from her!).

From SlowJoe on Wed, Jan 19, 2011 at 13:22:31 from 184.79.24.255

I noticed in Tracy's picture you amazingly are able to keep the same expression on your face through the painful-looking "blips." Very impressive.

From ChrisM on Thu, Jan 20, 2011 at 04:18:58 from 130.88.123.4

I have not read the word P90X for a while and it makes me sad.

Cripes.

I have been on this blog site since October 2010.

I had no idea.

From april27 on Thu, Jan 20, 2011 at 22:16:41 from 99.188.251.180

were you serious about not running for the rest of the week?

From Burt on Thu, Jan 20, 2011 at 23:43:23 from 72.223.84.236

I've decided that I'm never running again since Tracy hurt my feelings so bad.

From Tracy on Fri, Jan 21, 2011 at 08:06:58 from 173.23.75.96

I'm sure you've been crying nonstop since Tuesday. It's hard to run through sobs.

From april27 on Fri, Jan 21, 2011 at 08:32:44 from 99.188.251.180

ahahhaha...too funny!
