Finally I'm blogging!  I've been so excited and scared all week to get to meet Julie Esplin.   Would she really show up?  Would I be able to keep up with her?  Will she see me for the fraud that I am?

Despite her better judgment, she did drop by.  I was really worried about where we would run.  I mean, who wants to run around a boring neighborhood?  But I couldn't really think of anything cool.  Then I thought well, hey, she's on vacation.  She might like to see the Mesa Temple.  So she got to my house, begged me to see me spray water in my son's face to wake him up, I took a couple of failed attempts snapping some pictures, and we were off.

I told her to stick close to me because I'd never run to the temple before, but I knew we were going through a bad neighborhood.  Actually I just didn't want her to ditch me.  She got a couple of cat calls from the day laborers at the corner.  We had a good conversation about our kids.  We got to the temple and took a couple of pictures with her camera.  (Don't forget to email those to me, Julie.)  I showed her where the stage was for the big Easter pageant they have every year.  There was already somebody there saving seats at 6:30am!  Then we ran back, and she met my wife, daughter, and sister.  She's so nice and so fast.  It must have been killing her to run so slow with me :)

Burt, you were smokin' fast! Leave it to Julie to help out your AP. Is that a sunburn I see on her nose? You should have offered her some shade.

I can't believe that you deleted my 2nd "Nice run!" At least now I know where you draw the line.

If I were there, you two would have left me in your dust in the bad part of town.

From Burt on Fri, Apr 15, 2011 at 21:25:05 from 72.223.90.79

Mark - way to add color to a once dull blog.

Melody - It should be a sunburn being that she's in AZ and all, but it's a highly contagious skin rash. I have it now.

allie - Julie laughed when I told her you thought she was funny. Also she said you two were almost sisters because she set you up with her brother-in-law. How'd that turn out anyway?

Funzo - two nice runs? It wasn't that nice. Well, yeah it was. Feel free to put it back.

Dale - I'm pretty sure the day laborers would have given you some sweet cat calls, too. So maybe it wouldn't have been so bad.

It would have made me run a lot faster, that's for sure.

I opened your fortune cookie... yes, you got it, it said...

Nice Run!
